No you're not.

Are you saying that it would be better if he didn’t have the opportunity to go to college?

No, he isn't

I'm sure a minor league system is what he is getting to. If the draft would open it's doors to the Canadian league and others, this wouldn't be an issue.

That is what happens when one party holds up one side of agreement, and the other party has no intention of reciprocating.

Citi Bank, a while back, capitulated to making loans to folks with poor credit. Guess what, loans made to this ilk resulted in 90+ defaults. The victim claims is oft times a ploy to avoid responsibility!!!

I think you’re saying athletes should be held to the same standards as the rest of society.

If that’s what you’re saying, I agree.

Let’s get real. NFL does not need to fund any semi pro league. It already has a free one with college football mercenaries pretending to be students. True, there are a few actual students that could earn a legit college degree but most could not. It is, what it is.

The only thing stopping Emery right now is an economics textbook

To be fair, that's also stopped alot of liberals from becoming functioning members of society.

I'm not mad at Emery because this is systematic problem

A player cannot get out of his own way and do what he is supposed to do and you blame it on the system? Jesus how about take accountability for your own actions. At this point he has no one to blame but himself, he is the only one holding himself back.

I don’t think people would like the college football product if high schoolers who didn’t want to go to college could go to a quality semi-pro league.

So LSU fans would then dislike LSU football the same way they dislike LSU baseball?

We are an outlier in baseball. The overall popularity of college baseball has grown but is still pretty negligible. I think if the most talented kids signed pro contracts out of high school rather than playing in college, many fans who dedicate one day a week to football would switch that day to Sunday.

Of course, die-hard fans of a school would still watch but you need more than that to keep modern athletic departments afloat.

Can't blame the college. There are rules in place. No doubt he gets as much help as is allowed. What should LSU do ? There isn't a semi pro league for highschoolers. If that was an option, then things could be different. The NFL could fund one, but it would cost them, and I doubt you would have owners in line to spend money that way.

Why does LSU need to do anything? He could go to a lesser college that would overlook some of his academic problems to make sure he made his way on the field. If his ultimate goal for college is to make it to the NFL and not play school, Emery should have transferred somewhere that will make sure he gets playing time

NFL can not draft right out of high school (because they made an agreement with the NCAA because it’s so profitable for colleges and the NFL basically gets a free minor league).

He was draft eligible the last 2 years and chose to keep coming back. There are also multiple lesser pro leagues he could've gone to to prove himself like Kirklin

I absolutely blame the universities because they know many of the players they recruit don't have the academic foundation to succeed in college, but they still recruit these guys because all they care about is winning at any cost.

Many of the players also have had brushes with the law, but they don't care because all they care about is winning. A coach doesn't get paid on which team has the highest GPA, but how many wins can he rack up.

A player, no matter how talented, should be recruited to a college when they know he doesn't have the necessary academic foundation to succeed. College should be about academics first, period!

I doubt if you know but Emery has had more bad grief with his loved ones in the last 2 years or so than as they say tge law shoukd allow. There has been significant pain and suffering to last a life time. I doubt many of us coukd concentrate on outside things very well. Team the article on this site.
