Barbe + JJ and Destrehan would be about equal in most peoples eyes I think. (Destrehan I would give an edge to because they have so much experience.) Barbe - JJ being better than Destrehan? You are on crack.
Ok pal.
Desty had trouble with Ruston who blows nuts vs any team worth half of a shite.
And you had a dog fight with Higgens who has no coaching what-so-ever.
Destrehan is very experienced and that helps them alot. I think Barbe would arse rape Desty b/c 1. you wouldnt score on their D and 2. that quick QB would give you fits.

Higgins "raped" a good Mandeville team. But whatever makes you feel better. You are just going to look like an idiot later, anyone would that thinks a team that wins 27 straight while playing in 5A is in store for an "arse raping."
Just like anyone would be an idiot for doubting WM in their best years.

Im not hating on what Destrehan has done 27 straight wins is awesome, but you lost most of what got you those wins Jordan Jefferson and Tim Molton. You really havent played any great teams, Ill give you Dutchtown and Hahnville their pretty good but thats it. Just like WM (we've only played a couple of good teams Ouachita, Byrd, STM). Once again dont get me wrong, I respect the hell out of Destrehan ,but I dont think they are nearly as good as some think.

BTW: If I'm completely wrong and Desty takes state then I will come right back to the MSB and eat some crow.

The thing is, this isn't 1A football we are talking about. If you can go undefeated as a 5A team after losing that much talent the year before, I think that says something significant about the current strength of your team/program.
Destrehan has to be one of the best coached teams in the state given the point you brought up, losing all that talent, and still going undefeated. I think any recruiting analyst/high school football analyst would also say they are in the upper echelon of talent in 5A. Given all that, it just seems unreasonable and perhaps foolish to give any team a significant edge over them.
I do agree with the other Destrehan follower that WM would and should be the favored team if they met in the Dome. The experience factor should keep it a very, very close game.

Losing Nelson and Johnson were much bigger than losing Molton

I really hope its WM/Destrehan for the State title.
That would be a great game #1 vs #2.
It doesnt get any bigger than that.

Gotta say since we played both Barbe and Desty. I would give the edge to Desty. Just too many athletes on defense and speed all over the place. Hell I think the drum major runs a 4.5

Best way to combat that is run straight at them with a power running attack. What does WM do again?

Are you sure the best way is by a power running attack? You may want to check and see what East St. John did against Destrehan with their power running attack with Alex Singleton. Or you may even want to ask Mr. Lacy and Mr. York from Dutchdown how effective their power running game was. Bottom line is Destrehan's defense is very good. They are big AND fast up front, and they are very balanced. Your best shot of beating them is having a QB who can buy time and who is VERY ACCURATE on the deep ball. Just as Higgins proved last night, you can run all game long, but Destrehan's defense comes up with stops when they need to. Balance is needed.
I think too many people look into scores of games to determine how good a team is. For example, against Higgins it was raining most of the game, which gives a big advantage to the more run-oriented team (Higgins). But still, Destrehan FOUND a way to win. That is the thing with Destrehan. They are not near as talented as last year, but they continue to FIND ways to win in the playoffs, even though they haven't been playing their best ball.
Also, winning 27 in a row DOES matter. It means that Destrehan just KNOWS how to win. It also means that they play with that extra confidence that all good teams play with.
Destrehan may lose this Friday to Central. I believe they will win, but you never know. I also think that Barbe without Janzen Jackson is a different team. Therefore, I'll go with WM. We can talk about a possible WM/Barbe vs. Destrehan/Central matchup next week.

Destrehan vs. West Monroe. Destrehan has been there before, they know what it takes, and so does west monroe
