Tvs are a categories where bigger does not mean better. You could get a 75" for under 500. But it's a great chance it's a piece of shite on the TV scale.
To top it off we still cant get a decent library of true 4k content.

Yes and I still miss my Panasonic that I bought in 2012 which was maybe the last year they were made. Nothing made today looks as good until you get up to the very high end OLED models.

You think your 2007 720p plasma has better resolution than a 2020 or newer 4k 1440p tv? Think you need to take a trip down to your local lens crafters.
That's not what he said. *I was an ISF Certified Imaging Calibration expert for over 20 years. The plasmas operate at 240Hz. The color gamut on a plasma exceeds the current standard of Rec.709 with a dynamic color depth of 5,000,000:1.

The images on plasma, even at HD, can look so engrossing that side by side comparisons to 4K OLED can be difficult to determine which is which.

I still have a 50" LG 720 (i or p, can't remember) that I put up in the guest room. I now have a 58" 4k, and I have to admit- the 4k might have much better resolution, but that old 720 plasma is still beautiful. There's more to picture than just resolution.

I felt like a loser in 2010 when my parents had two before I owned one.

We had a plasma TV. It was the first flat screen we had, lasted for years. Can’t remember the exact year, but I’m thinking it had to be sometime around 2006 or 2007 when we got it. Main thing I remember was how heavy the damned thing was. But was a great TV. By the time it went out, plasmas were out of favor. I tried to find someone to see if it could be repaired but had no luck.

I'm willing to bet that plasma was NOT the first flat screen you had.

I still have a 2005 42" and a 2012 65" (I think that's right). I see no reason to buy a new one.

I worked for a certain television network in BR in the 90s. We paid $25,000 for on of the first. 19 inch Panasonic. There were no digital broadcasts then. We looped a custom made feed. Ashley Judd was in it. It haunts my dreams.

I have one that I don’t use and it works perfectly but it’s so heavy I can’t find a good home for it. Asked buddies if they need a 50 inch for a camp and no takers still. Unreal. Thing is magical

I remember, my brother sometimes had to have "the best" of something, and show off a bit. He had one of those big projection TVs, in a room where the TV could only be on the long side of a room, so you sat close to the screen. This was in the old analog days, SD only, and blowing the picture up that big, and sitting that close, only made it look bad.

Lcd/led tech is in fact inferior to plasma in some ways (I believe motion handling and color accuracy), however a mid to high end modern lcd will be better overall than a plasma at least by virtue of 4k resolution, hdr color and brightness.

I replaced my Panasonic plasma a couple years ago with a Sony OLED, which has all the benefits of plasma.

Brother I remember console TV's with the stereo under one top and a record player under the other. And the stereo side had an 8 track player.

Got the 42” Panasonic plasma for like $1350 at Circuit City in 2006. It’s outlived a few other TV’s and is still rocking to this day.
