If it’s anything like Baton Rouge. People leave their own local school to go to a private school and the landscape od the sport suffers so one school can improve at the expense of their other students.

I wish Louisiana cheered for education instead of football. I love the sport but could not care less who dominates. It should be local schools playing each other as intended. Instead, they all have to play without their best player.

But the public schools don’t own the kids

as our famous poster from the parish pointed out, the publics don't own the kid's talents

1) in many cases the publics are offering shitty education and has distractions throughout the classrooms and even though they pay more, which in turn means better teachers usually, they offer an inferior product in many cases. This is across the state in all the cities and even smaller towns like Crowley

2) in many cases the public schools have worse coaches

3) many times the publics have inferior facilities despite getting way more per student than what it costs to go private

the public schools want to hold kids hostage to districts instead of allowing open enrollment and school choice because that would mean they have to compete or lose students. it's sad.

as far as recruiting and offering free tuition.....you mean make the playing field level with the publics?

if both schools are free...parents are going to choose the better education, facilities, and programs. maybe, just maybe, the public schools should try and compete and offer something more than the private schools.
