Love the IYKYK comments on here. Yes, most of what Dusty listed in that promo are true today. All you really need to do is look at the Sonic-McDonalds price index. $5.19 for a foot long? $5.29 for a sauced pressed rib shaped pork patty? This "living wage" crap is just dragging the middle class down like quicksand.

I am a big believer in qualifications determining your wage. You shouldn't expect much more than $8/hrs if you dropped out of high school, had 4 kids with 4 different boys, and used up the resources already provided for you. I did not graduate high school and get a college degree just to subsidize your irresponsibility. You know things are out of whack when you can buy a T-bone at the grocery store for cheaper than a Big Mac meal.

The price increases are a bit predatory as well. I don't even hit a button at Sonic anymore, I do everything with the app. With many of their orders coming that way, it should mean that one less worker is needed. McDonalds has taken it to the extreme with not only mobile ordering but placing your order via kiosk. Steak N Shake got rid of their usual 6-8 person crews. You are now greeted with kiosks and then there's a cook & a manager answering questions and bussing tables. So instead of 4 people making $9/hr there's only 2 making $16/hr. (And did I fail to mention that doing orders this way involves A LOT of disposable packaging?)

What I heard was that the prices are being raised because they found out people would pay them to get their food delivered via Uber Eats…

I had to replace the transmission in my truck last week. It’s the same transmission that’s used on lower end models that I would expect lower income folks to purchase.

It cost me 10,000 fricking dollars. While I was angry, I did stop to think how ill prepared the average American is to weather a pop up expense like that. I don’t know how some people are getting by these days.

Going through hard times
But I ain't feelin' it none
We're all tryin' to make it
Through one more day

I got wheels and plenty of wood
I know I ain't setting the world on fire
But I think I got it pretty good

Doesn’t seem that way to me. $50-100k vehicles all over the road. If those people are hurting they deserve every meal they miss.

I know a guy who worked forty years for the same company. They gave him a gold watch, kicked him in the butt, and told him, “A COMPUTER took your place, Daddy.”

People are getting squeezed. The funny thing is the people I see crying on social media about how they can't afford anything are the same ones that were chèering for lockdowns and staying home while getting "free" money from the government. Well that bill is due and we are picking up the tab for it.

Perspective matters. When I am having one of those days I imagine the number of folks laid up in a hospital waiting for someone to start an IV before surgery...hard to stay down in the mouth when you are healthy and your loved ones are safe and secure, even if only at the moment.
