Yeah, the music building that bore his name is now just called "The Music Building." Original.

Someone like Dickie cannot resist the temptation to have influence over something, even if it's behind the scenes. Ole Miss had to distance themselves from him because of public opinion, but I doubt they are pushing him away if he wants to help fund a collective.

Several high dollar attorneys are putting money in as is Real Tree. The guy who started that company played for Ole Miss back in the 70's. His son is very active with Lane and Ole Miss sports. Heck they have worn a Real Tree helmet the last 2 years.

The fact is that Ole MIss lost their entire defense and had to go this route.

Shouldn’t we be going “all in” every year? Why is going all in a negative connotation with Ole Miss?

We should be in a position where going "all in" is only marginally different that the norm.

It shouldn't have a negative connotation. What they're doing to load up with an upperclassman QB and an abnormally soft schedule isn't much different than what we did in baseball to capitalize on the last seasons of Dylan Crew, Tre Morgan, Gavin Dugas, etc. We went all in to get the guys to put us over the hump.

If it works its genius. If not it looks stupid. At a place like Ole Miss, what do they have to lose? It's a stepping stone job that's never going to be consistently in contention. All they'll ever have is 1 or 2 year windows. Might as well go balls out when you have a solid core to start with. They don't have a Jordan Travis but if things play out right they could have an FSU type year. Ed O and Larry Coker managed to navigate their way to a national title. Kiffin is much better than both. We'll get our shot in person.

Absolutely not. Ole Miss (a) has only the #20 HS class at the moment, and (b) is truly emptying the clip to maximize a single season.

Lol what? What “rumors” did he try to start?

I mean… he’s the only +EV bettor I’m aware of who gives picks away for free. Also, if you know anything about sports betting, you know that it’s pretty remarkable to be +EV when you’re picking against lines 3 days after open. Guy knows his shite by any reasonable evaluation.

No. We should be building sustainably. LSU is a program that, when it’s operating at peak capacity (or near peak capacity), can win a championship at any time, without having to “go all in” and sacrifice future roster quality to maximize roster quality for a particular season.

It doesn’t have a negative connotation in the sense that it’s a “bad” thing or a “dumb” move. I actually think for ole miss it’s smart, to try and build some momentum on the back of a good draw and maybe win something while they’re at it. The fact that they’re reportedly going all-in only has a “negative connotation” in the sense that it means that their current portal success shouldn’t be viewed as a sign that this is a new level of recruiting that we should expect them to maintain consistently into the future. This is probably more of a one-off than a new level of recruiting. If it was a new level of recruiting, they wouldn’t still have a crappy HS class.

In particular: Ole Miss is currently in the process of going "all in" on this portal class.

Wow, that’s a unique idea, going all in to improve your football team. Ole Miss is on to something here.

make a legitimate run at the #1 overall HS class for the 2024 cycle?

This doesn’t matter anymore. As soon as one doesn’t get his way or doesn’t play as much or gets his feelings hurt they bolt and are gone. The instant eligibility portal world have made signing day irrelevant and recruiting never ending with the guys on the current roster.

I hate to admit it, but I think they are outworking LSU, alumni, and the state of La. I still don't think they will be a top 10 team next year, but they are definitely improving and we are not. We need a big boost, but I don't see it coming. Maybe Bussey and McKinley will do the trick. Did not realize Scruggs was out of jail. Maybe that explains the rise. The dude is a major player and a force.

Correct.
They lose 10 starters on defense
7 on offense
They are in desperation mode

He's not on the hotseat, lol.

But its obvious they are going all in next year with that trash schedule.

Their high school class is ho-hum. Everyone scared of them have long term success is crazy.

Lane Kiffin will bolt if they have the successful season they think they will have, and leave them with nothing.

I agree a bit. How does the chemistry of “Prima Donna’s” with $ incentives work out?

Didn’t do too well in Aggieland.
