Our Samsung washer is about 12 years old. No issues up to now. Our son washed a load of jeans, and when the machine got to the spin cycle, the load was too heavy and unbalanced .. so the tub was spinning slowly and off balance. The machine tried it's thing where it stops and shifts the clothes around to try again.. Can't really say for sure if this has been something building up with the machine or not..

It never corrected itself. So I pulled all the clothes out and ran a spin cycle with the machine empty. Did the same thing. All off balance and would never start spinning fast. I was hoping it would somehow reset itself or something....

I read that the counter weights could be messed up (cracked or broken?) or the spider bracket could be broken. I read/heard both issues are more expensive to fix than the cost of the machine.

I guess my question is has anyone else dealt with this, and is there some easy fix to this that I don't know about??

We already ordered a new washer/dryer set and will be installed today. I just want to know if I'm really stupid and there is a quick and easy way to fix this without having to buy another washer??

Edit.

One thing we did do is put those small furniture moving pads under the feet of the washer. The washer/dryer is stacked and slides in between cabinets in our laundry room. The feet makes it easier to slide the set out, and it also dampens the vibrations. Our laundry is upstairs and you can feel it lightly vibrate the house when it's going.

Not sure if there's an issue there.

I don't know what's wrong with your washer but I can tell you this:

If the new one you have on order isn't a Speed Queen, you have already messed up.

Check to see if the adjustable feet are damaged. I had one that was bent and caused the washer to be unbalanced

Any chance the furniture moving pads may have caused this? We have them under the feet so we can slide the stack in and out of the cubby in the cabinets. Also to cut down on vibration.

I know they do make the vibration pads for the feet. Just wondering if having the furniture moving pads may have mad it act up.. they are not quite the same thing as the vibration pads. Maybe they put the machine off balance or something.

These are what I'm talking about..

A lesson every homeowner learns once. Front load dryers are all trash.

TC5. In stock at Bon Marche in Marrero. About $400 less than MSRP.

Check and see that the counter weights are in place. If one feel off it will shake bad. Could be a spider gear but also could be a failed rear bearing. These can be changed but it's a lot of work. Takes me like two hours to do.
So it's usually not worth doing.
Depends on the sound it's making. If it sounds like a train when spinning it's a bad bearing. If it's just clodding around and all over the place then it's usually a broken counter weight or support.
With Samsung though it's usually the bearing.
