Health Insurance Allowance vs. Company Provided

I have always worked for organizations that provide health insurance options. I am looking to move to an organization, one draw back is the company says they “provide a $350 monthly allowance towards health insurance”. My issues are, this money is taxed as normal wages both by company and myself , plus now I have to go to individual market and figure things out on my own and deal with those policies.
- Have you had experience with this?
- Is this a trend in the workforce or simply this company I am looking to move to?
Thank you.

Ask them to start at ICHRA. Individual insurance through an employer. They contribute what they want and you still get tax advantages.
I assume the employer is small. If so, this is not overly uncommon.
