My SO seems to always gravitate towards high rated stuff on movie nights which ends up being BS sometimes so just trying to find something really quality that that’s legit but not necessarily as highly rated because it’s under the radar so to speak.
Thanks to any suggestions

Working with what I got.

Be less vague next time.

*What's really weird - in all my reading and watching stuff on ancient mythology, I've never even heard the term 'Manes' used before. Not that I know if it applies here or not, but still... I'd have thought it would ring a bell. Nope. Nothing.

Ngl, my wife has been watching some docudramas on Netflix that wound up sucking me in. If you're both into that sort of thing, you might try Meet, Marry, Murder and Crime Scene: The Texas Killing Fields.

I was aiming at movies, not docs or series.

But for good eye opening history stuff - Ancient Apocalypse is good, or Unknown: Cave of Bones.

Society of the Snow is a newer Netflix release you may have missed. It’s about the 1972 plane crash in the Andes. It’s in Spanish though if that’s an issue. I guess you could call it a remake of Alive (1993) but this one is based on a different novel of the crash and is more accurate.

The Conversation (1974) is on Prime If you haven't seen it, it's worth checking out.

The Tomorrow War (2021) is another one on Prime I liked.

I watched it while flying from Santiago to Buenos Aires, heh. Well done, the English subtitles worked fairly well. Just brutal what they went through.

I'll throw out The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and The Rat Catcher. Both are Wes Anderson short films that are really good. I thought those two were better than Poison or the Swan. Wes Anderson finally won an Oscar for Henry Sugar.

Delightful short film.

Wasn’t even paying attention to this last night but good for him! Grand Budapest is one of my favorite criminally under-awarded films.

There really should be an unwritten rule here that if you are starting threads/making recommendations for titles that are animated then you should state so.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve googled something recommended on here only to discover it’s some gd animated bs.
