The real question is should we, when BI's contract is up after next year, trade him and pay both Herb and Trey. You cannot have all 3.

problem with both Herb and Trey is neither of them can consistently create their own shot off the dribble... BI can... Herb and Trey can hit spot up/catch and release 3s, so unless they develop that part of their game to make BI expendable, BI is a valuable piece to have b/c you can go iso with him, when the game plan calls for it, unlike most every other player on the roster...

i'd love for Trey to develop that part of his game, to get a back to the basket arsenal in his bag, along with a consistent turnaround midrange game, but until he does, he's not quite a sufficient replacement for BI yet....

I have no dog in this fight but Hawkins is definitely a guy who can get shots off anytime he wants off of movement. May not be the same as your typical iso ball handler but his offball movements and gravity will definitely break defensive rotations and open things up for everyone else. The future with Hawkins should be very bright especially when he gains some much needed muscle and is able to hold his ground at the point of attack on the perimeteron defense.

At the end of the day how valuable BI will be determined by the playoffs. I agree BI is a playmaker and someone who can get his own shot- the question in the offseason will be is he worth the contract we’ll give him? I think BI in the playoffs with Zion will answer a lot of those questions. By the way, personally I think Herb has a lot more potential. He already handles like a point at times, is deadly in transition and routinely takes players off the dribble. I think Herb may be the replacement not Trey.

Not better without him but better when the offense doesn’t run through him.

BI is literally one of probably 4-5 players on this team who can create their own jump shot. BI, CJ, Zion, Naji, and Hawkins - and since Zion doesn’t shoot jumpers and Hawkins doesn’t play it’s really only the 3. Out of those 3 BI is the best at it. We are definitely not better without him.

Simple answer.. No and it's foolish to think otherwise.

Hate to be a broken record...but...Herb is gonna continue to get better offensively. The game is starting to "slow down" for him. He is MUCH more confident going to the hoop & is in the process of developing a solid 8-10' shot around the hoop. Just started going this direction in the past coupla weeks. Plus, he is a very good passer & is only gonna get better at that. He's already the 2nd best player on the Pels...& his ceiling is constantly being adjusted upward.

The key to the Pels' future depends on Trey and believe it or not...Dyson Daniels. BI has already topped out...and I think the Pels figured that out quite a while back.

Bottom line...find me a solid "5" to replace JV...and I'll take my chances, even without...BI.

This happens a lot of times after a top player gets hurt. Teams rally and play together and some one else goes off. The issue is, can those players that stepped up, play that way on a night in night out bases without the top player

Also teams will start adjusting defenses to match the players
