You laugh, but it’s possible. We have an ICE detention center not too far away from it. Maybe 5 miles…

Don't get me wrong, we had all of the sports, but they all sucked when I was there. Our robotics team was legit though. If I remember correctly they were going all over the state for competitions and dominating.

Did you grow up in Louisiana? I don’t know of any robotic teams competing against other schools in Louisiana. In 2024 those schools might exist, but I don’t think that was a thing in Louisiana public schools in the 90’s.

When I was there it was all three, but basketball was ranked #3 by USA Today. Now it’s probably just football and baseball.

Basketball, baseball, and soccer we're playing for State championships. Football was fighting to get into the playoffs.

I went to Graves County High. Our cross town rival Mayfield:

13 State football titles
2nd winningest program in Kentucky
3rd Winningest program in the country

However, we did make the state championship in 2014.

Three time state runners up in baseball… runners up in girls basketball and volleyball… historically decent in everything except soccer

But what is best known to y’all is the player we got in the NBA right now

Football and baseball. A tiny little Catholic school in San Mateo, California produced: Tom Brady, Lynn Swann, David Bakhtiari, and Matt Dickerson (KC Chiefs DT) in football. Barry Bonds, Jim Fregosi, Greg Jefferies, Rob Leary (LSU catcher), Ty Jensen (LSU catcher), Tim Cullen (Oakland A's 70's world series teams) in baseball.

When I went to South Lafourche, it was a basketball school in the late 1990’s: 1997 (semifinal), 1998 (state champions), and 1999 (state runner up). There was even a state track title some where in those years.

Before that it was a football school with championships in the early years with state championships in 1971 and 1977 (Bobby Hebert and Coach O), and a state runner up in 1967 when the school opened. There were also numerous quarterfinal appearances into the 1980’s.

Now the school is lucky to make the playoffs in any sports especially since the LHSAA has the division system where South Lafourche plays in a 4A District but competes in a Division I bracket against 5A schools in some sports.

Football, basketball, and soccer .

Football was ok. Went 6-4, 7-3 most of the time I was there. It wasn't until I left that they really turned it on.

Won 3 state titles in a 10 year period in basketball and played for state in soccer.

My school has traditionally been one of the best track schools in the country. Titles everywhere.

Football and basketball.

Told the story on here before. I got the football coach fired for running me off from school sports.

The coach saw me smoking and knew I was a pothead and didn’t like it. So spring practice my sophomore year he started dogging me with wind sprints even after starting to vomit.

At the end of the last one I ever ran I just started walking from the field as coach continued to yell to line up and run again. I never looked back just flipped the bird over my shoulder and kept walking. Never showed up for another school practice at anything.

I was the 2nd fastest sprinter in TN officially. The only faster runner was a year older and a junior. The school could have had us on the same offense and defense and run away with the competition. This was literally 1980 and I had scouts from all the colleges flying in to see me.

Last I knew, coach was trying to sell insurance and the school never sniffed the playoffs until long after I was gone.

I was football at Barbe before there really was a baseball program. My buddies begged me to play baseball my senior year because they didn’t have enough players to field a team
