And whoever trades for him will want him to agree to an extension. Waiting for the deadline will severely limit the number of teams that would/could be involved.
We know that the team does not want back "contracts" and want quality players and assets back in return. No way that happens at the deadline.
I'm not even sure how anyone could think that it's remotely a good idea.
