He made a political action, against a political topic, when not invited. At a place of entertainment, against a symbol that means a lot to people. Literally completely different situations.
But we have had threads on Lebron when giving his opinion in the various ways:
In a tv show he created
In interviews when asked
On his own social media
Let’s not pretend this board and conservatives in general only get mad when athlete does something on the court or field

You think he ever called out his own religion for consistently hiding and protecting pedophiles?

I already said he spiraled out to stupidity after the beginning, fun bunch

Now if he would have kneeled in solidarity at his home, yeah no one would have cared unless the news told people to.
The irony in this comment, imagine pretending to be so pro-American then throwing a fit when someone exercises their own right to protest

Amazing deflection but pretty sure pedophiles do actual harm while trans people just exist

there was never a single thread about the national anthem in the sports discourse before conservatives got pissy about Kaepernick

Ding ding ding
We’re all hypocrites. Just some of us don’t hide from it.

Comparing what Butker did to a public display during the sporting event is dumb
However, like I said, conservatives here are full of shite if they act like they don’t get riled up when Lebron shares his opinions off the court

Well that's because he says stuff like this:
quote:
LeBron James blows off Fox News host: “I will definitely not ‘shut up and dribble.’ I mean too much to society.”
Or does this:
quote:
"It just goes to show that racism will always be a part of the world, a part of America," he somberly said at an NBA Finals press conference when asked about it. "Hate in America, especially for African Americans, is living every day."
He's not much different than Kap. ANd he created a voting mobilization organization. So he's literally trying to impact voting. Kap mainly stuck to his cause and self-promotion. James is using his dollars to influence politics.

You pay attention to the anthem while watching on tv, is that what you’re saying? Do you put your hand over your heart in your living room
I always "pay attention" when the anthem plays. Not sorry for loving my country.

He has a right to protest, where did I say it differently?
People also hav the right to call him annoying because he does it during a football game. It's a pretty fair thing to want your football and chicken sandwiches to not be tangled with politics, but the left won't let it go.
And again, this thread is about Butker, who was INVITED to talk. There is no similarity here.

Do play the anthem on your phone when it’s not shown on tv?

People on this board bitch weekly about some woke bullshite an athlete says on a podcast they were invited to.
Posted on 5/16/24 at 3:25 pm to lsupride87
I don’t disagree with the 2 being different. But I don’t view Kaepernick as shoving it in peoples face, at least not in the beginning.

We've established you don't like America. No need to keep hammering it

People complain, News at 11.
Most of this discussion was about WHAT and Why he said it, not THAT he said it.
Then someone compared him to Kap and Lebron, which are vastly different. Both did something on the court or field.
Sorbo is right here too. The amount of attacking on Butker, when so many other things happen in the league is quite illuminating.

About Butker.

That’s crazy talk. Absolute insanity
He is a self proclaimed activist. It’s an activist’s job to throw that shite in people’s face
You can’t change the past bro, that’s exactly what he calls himself, and that’s exactly what he did

Serious question, when has lebron shared his opinions "privately" that got any backlask here? I can only think of times when he's been in front of national media and their cameras.
It also doesn't help that lebron faked a hate crime. Using him as analogous to Butker is a stretch imo.

Yea that’s just simply not true.
