A Florida teenager’s prom dreams were ruined when she was turned away from the dance because she was wearing a suit.

I bet her “prom dream” was to be kicked out for crossdressing at a religious school and then become a news story.

Actions and consequences. It’s a good life lesson.

The school has strict guidelines for formal attire. For female students, only an evening gown, cocktail dress or one-piece attire are allowed.

Well, there it is. The kid and her mom are just just playing the victims for sympathy online (and probably hoping for a payday from a GoFundMe or lawsuit down the road).

When you disregard rules, there are consequences. I'm not sure when or why large segments of our society have forgotten that.

I believe in rules are rules and they were posted. Not sure I understand the reason they admin decided to fight this one.. I have seen high school prom groups before and thought they were going to an onlyfans convention..

Had a lesbian wear a tux to prom in 2006, in a very conservative Birmingham suburb, and nobody batted an eye. I mean rules are rules but there’s plenty of other shite to actually care about.

I mean, rules are rules. But I remember girls going to prom and homecoming in suits and ties in the 90s. Is this really a battle that needs to be fought? Sounds stupid on both sides. Let the kids be a bit rebellious and edgy. The best thing you can do is just show them you don't care.

The best thing you can do for someone that is morbidly obese is to be honest with them and encourage them to get in shape before they suffer a serious illness as a result.

The best thing you can do to someone with a very clear mental disorder is to make sure that they understand that something is not functioning properly in their mind and they need help. They need to get it addressed. This is beyond apparent when you read social media comments and who says what.

I credibly weird hill for the school to die on.

Seems to be a public school receiving public funding. I am not sure how they can enforce this dress code.

Look at this thread.

You have a huge number of people on here posting “why does the school care, even though it was a clearly stated rule,” and “what a weird hill to die on”.

she showed up in something ridiculous- sure- but to pick the fight over a suit seems like the school leaders were just as actively looking for attention and affirmation in their own circles Let the kid have a good night in an outfit that doesn’t stick out
school leaders understand the if you give em an inch rule.

If my kid was going to prom in an outfit, I would ask them if that is the required attire. If the answer was no, I would insure it did. But I am not looking to garner attention

wouldn’t this apply to any rule. Kids comply with dress codes every day if their school life. This is no different
