NC senate bans mask
quote:
The North Carolina Senate voted along party lines Wednesday to ban anyone from wearing masks in public for health reasons, following an emotional debate about the wisdom of the proposal.
Republican supporters of the ban said it would help police crack down on protesters who wear masks — which some lawmakers called a growing concern, saying demonstrators are abusing Covid-19 pandemic-era norms to wear masks that hide their identities.

Politicians continue to tackle the most pressing issues of the day, nice work.

Through all of the Covid nonsense the weirdest feeling I ever had was walking into a liquor store wearing a mask, which was just a gaiter pulled up over my nose. I half expected to get lit up by the ol' baw behind the counter.

NC landscapers can't be thrilled with this.

Agreed but how do you balance safety of citizenry with the constitution. What happens when they want to ban people from wearing running shoes? Or having a wallet?
Slippery slope however you cut it.

Republicans. The party of absolutely no personal autonomy and freedom.
If someone wants to wear a dust mask in public, they should be able to do that. It is not an issue that Republicans should be able to control.

They're not wrong, but this still doesn't make sense. If the protestors are breaking a law then arrest them. Pretty easy to take the mask off at that point. You can't legislate stupidity out of these people. Just enforce the laws we already have hard and fast and this shite would go away.

Went to a local liquor store during CV and went to pay for my purchase with cash and the clerk acted like I was trying to hand her a venomous snake. They were only taking card purchases so that the clerks would not have to handle any deadly, highly infectious currency. I left my bottle of cheap bourbon on the counter and went down the road to another store.

NC Republicans: "You can't force me to wear a mask."
Also NC Republicans: "We can force you not to wear a mask."

These idiots lived through COVID government overreach and STILL don’t want the ability to protest anonymously.
They still think the government is their friend.

This is rich coming from you. What were your thoughts on mask mandates during Covid?

The overcorrection is coming, slowly but its coming and it isnt going to be pretty.
Everyone shouldve known this is where it would end up with all the foolishness thats gone on.

Do you realize a lot of places in the South adopted anti-masking laws during the civil rights era to help combat the KKK?

Now we're going to start worrying about the Constitution.

You didn’t go with the Jeremy Pruitt style?

This law is stupid and unconstitutional, but it's hilarious to see certain people skyscreaming about "rights" when a couple of years ago half the people in this country wanted to lock up folks for merely questioning the efficacy of mask mandates and vaccine mandates. They wanted to ruin people's lives for actually embracing the concept of bodily autonomy. But now a mask prevention law is a step top far.
