I just don’t get it.

The south has seen a boom in auto production jobs precisely because the unions ruined things in Michigan.

Why f up economic development?

These workers are getting paid well and these are solid middle class jobs.

No union necessary

So they can get paid $5/hr more and then pay $4.50/hr of that right back as union dues, and then have to live with the constant worry of having to strike without income for indeterminate periods of time because someone 5 states away thinks their current life scenario is unfair.

I mean, it really makes perfect sense if you think without logic or rationale.

ETA: I see a couple teamsters popped in to depress the old "down arrow". I fart in your general direction!

frick the UAW! They’re nothing but a damn Marxist organization.

They’ve literally ruined the Big Three automakers with their insane demands, pensions and medical care.

Oh, and don’t forget that most of their union dues go to the exorbitant salaries of the union officials and the Democratic Party.

When my grandfather passed away, one of my dad's cousins came in from New York for the funeral. Her husband had a union labor job, maybe an iron worker. He had trouble with his return flight, and if he didn't get back in time, he was going to lose his spot to another union worker. Seems like a pretty shitty way to treat someone. That's my only personal "experience" with unions.

They had their use back in the day, but now Federal regulations have taken over the job of protecting workers.

How much does a Benz make in Tuscaloosa, Alabama? As of May 10, 2024, the average hourly pay for the Benz jobs category in Tuscaloosa is $22.25 an hour.

While ZipRecruiter is seeing salaries as high as $45.54 and as low as $9.76, the majority of salaries within the Benz jobs category currently range between $14.09 (25th percentile) to $29.71 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making annually in Tuscaloosa.
How much is ‘a living wage’ in Alabama?

You ever think about how much a Mercedes Benz would cost if they payed everyone $50/hr?

It’s called reality bud, you ought to visit it sometimes.

I remember when we went through this 8 years ago at Nissan. The UAW brought Bernie Sanders and Danny Glover in to try and close the deal in their favor. If that wasn't a dead giveaway as to what the UAW was all about, then I don't know what is.
