You never overpay

Lauri, Sexton, Agbaji, 3 picks, 2 swaps

IIRC, it was mainly centered around future picks, Obaji, and Lauri Markkanen.
It was Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen and Ochai Agbaji along with first-round picks in 2025, 2027 and 2029, plus swaps.
Which looking back at it, is a huge haul, but wasn’t universally considered as such at the time.
If they got something like BI, Dyson, Hawkins, and 3 1sts for him now, which I don’t think is unrealistic, I’d say that’s fairly comparable

Especially when you can ask for Allen back without including anything else but picks

Markkanen was a huge haul for Utah.
Sexton was a throw in from Cleveland’s perspective.
Remains to be seen what those picks and swaps turn into. Probably nothing in the case of the swaps.

And picks?
Also, Mitchell doesn't work without Herb. And Trey is too valuable. BI/Trey > Mitchell

Lauri had no value at the time, anyone could have signed him before. He sat on rfa market a long long time with no interest.

The 3 picks/2 swaps was the real value.
Lauri was a MLE-valued guy and Sexton only got a bag because they needed his salary for the S&T. Both are worth a LOT more now than when the trade was made.

See my above post. At the time he was not. At the time all were C level assets at the time. The trade was for the picks.
Griff had his treasure trove and CJs salary to match. Like I said, the time to get Mitch was two years ago, no one wanted to listen.

LM was literally seen as a MLE-level guy at the time of the trade, with buyer's remorse The Cavs only gave up Nance and a 2nd

Herb and Trey are both worth more than any player who went out in that deal, and we're ignoring BI, who is worth a LOT more than any player who went out in that deal

This would be way way more of an overpay compared to what the Cavs paid.
I was the biggest Mitch guy on here, I linked the proof. That time has passed now. For the cost, and trade value and fit, it’s time to get Trae instead.

Trey and Herb weren't really worth much after their first year. I think this is revisionist at its finest.

I know. I was the biggest Lauri guy on the board. Another person everyone on here was dead wrong about.
