I've gotten tires fixed like hers was that I've driven on for the life of the tire. Totally in the sidewall is a different story.

Never patch or plug a sidewall tire puncture. It will not last and then your safety is also to be considered if it were to blow out on the side.

Yeah, on my own vehicle, I wouldn't think twice about it.
My wife's car though... that would worry me every time she left the driveway.
