Depends on what type of felony we are talking about. A previous conviction for murder or rape is much different than a conviction for embezzlement or bank fraud.

quote:So hard and fast "inalienable rights" means they should be able take their gun to prison with them. Correct? A state prison has the ability to take away your constitutional rights?
States should be able to take away your constitutional rights?

Legality isnt stopping a criminal.
quote:Yes it is, but these people forfeited that right when they proved they can’t be trusted to only use for self defense.
Self defense is one of our most basic rights.

I think the argument is that your rights should be restored/not infringed after you've paid your debt to society. Not that violent criminals should be able to carry weapons into prison.

quote:Well I don’t believe a debt has been paid.
You either believe the debt is paid or you don't.
Attempted murder is a maximum 15 year sentence in some states. They tried to kill someone but somehow failed. You think they’re to be trusted not to do it again?
The recidivism rate of violent felons is like 60%.

They’re “2nd Amendment absolutionists.”
“You can’t take away their 2nd Amendment rights to protect themselves in prison! That’s unconstitutional!”

It seems to me your issue is with sentencing and parole guidelines. We probably agree on that problem. My argument is that you don't fix that frick up by fricking with a constitutional right.
Moreover, I wonder if (in a practical sense) the notion of a violent felon being released but hey, don't worry, he doesn't have his 2A rights is a hurdle to fixing the actual problem.

You tards keep forgetting to put that you're "real big 2A guys, but..." in front of your posts.
Don't worry, it's implied, but I know how you Fudds love to announce it for everyone and thought you'd appreciate the reminder.

By the way, the poll seems to be going well for you.

Bet you consider yourself a small govt conservative huh?
But I’m not in favor of giving people who’ve already proven that they are willing to illegally kill or maim others the right to own firearms.
This is insanity.

List any 2nd Amendment restrictions and I guarantee you that I’m against probably everything but this one issue.
I’m not the one simping for violent criminals. That would be you.

How does it feel to simp for violent criminals?

They should have known the risks on that bad day they did the crime. This should be a state issue.
How is an inalienable right an issue of a goooooooooooberment for a free man?

Can you imagine if "shall not be infringed" were followed how much less violence there would be? Criminals do not want a potential victim to be armed. Even the thought the victim could be is quite a deterrent.

Most people in the category don't care about what they are allowed to have/not have. They are going to arm themselves anyway

Once again, I’m talking about those convicted of violent gun crimes. Not non-violent.

Well, you've already listed mental health as a second reason you'd be fine with infringement...correct?

I'm supporting the Second Amendment, sport.
