It would seem Denver, Minnesota, OKC etc are poised to be top tier for many years....Is this a good thing for the NBA for the traditional powers in bigger markets or historic teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, etc to be second tier for a long time? Personally I miss the days of the traditional powers.

Mavericks aren’t going anywhere either. 2 WCF in the last 3 seasons with a win tomorrow. Luka is only 25 or 26.

I’d say Denver, Minnesota, and Dallas are the three best teams going forward.

OKC has a shite ton of capital, but they really need to find a 5 or another big to pair next to Chet. He’s not a big, and you saw it in the first series against the pelicans and especially against the Mavs where Gafford and Lively are much better defensively than Valanciunas. OKC would get eaten alive against Denver or Minnesota with their size.

I’d say as of right now, all healthy:

Denver
Dallas
Minnesota
OKC

Then you’ve got New Orleans, Memphis, Phoenix

Window closed: Warriors, Lakers, Clippers

Playoff contenders: Sacramento, Houston

Non-threats: Portland, Utah, San Antonio - the spurs still don’t have a legit number 2 or 3 on their roster. Vassell is solid, but that’s about it.

Curious to see with the luxury tax penalties, if the conference actually begin to balance out. There’s no reason for the east to be at the talent deficit that currently exists.

The Lakers have been irrelevant in the NBA for nearly 15 years now (outside of the micky mouse fake title that had the lowest ratings in finals history).

No team is "poised for years" that's not how the NBA works. Injuries and fa affect the league more than any other sport because it's just 5 guys playing at a time for your team.

People thought the OKC Thunder with Durant and Westbrook would be contenders for years, that didn't happen.

How many title runs did the Warriors miss out on because klay and KD got hurt?

Giannis was the supposed best player on the planet and only has one title.

There's just too many variables.
