The grandkids (all 20+ years old now) still occasionally ask to have us drag it out for them to play space invaders or Frogger when the family gets together.
I suspect we will have a great grandchild soon, since all but one of them are married. I'm saving my Atari for the next generation to have something for entertainment when they come over for July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Edited to add. Now I have to go pull the box of games out of the attic to see the names of the 40 or so games we have.

Pong came out in the early 70's it and its variations (both Sears and Radio Shack had versions) predated the Atari 2600 by about 5 years. IIRC Atari came out in '77. Star Wars and Atari came out within a few months of each other. A glorious time to be a kid.

We had an Atari, but we also had a NES at the same time.

#4. Still remember firing up Super Mario World and being blow away. Now that my son’s a little older I’m getting to revisit some of the SNES classics.

I had a '70s childhood. We were playing 8 ball at the bowling alley at 12.

If we want to be technical (and analog) this was my first game console:
With the full set of these:
I killed a lot of rainy days with the slalom ski and Indy car overlays.

I had Intellivision and my best friend had Atari. Next Gen he had NES and the next one I got was Sega. I think the only thing over the years up to now that neither one of us ever had was Coleco. We also had Commodore 128s, Dr. J vs Larry Bird for the win. So many hours playing Zork at sleepovers.

The Radio Shack knockoff of Pong also came with a corded pistol for a shooting at moving target game.
