Wife has a work conference in April so I'm tagging along and will have about 2-3 days in the city to myself. Will catch a Pirates game but any other suggestions where to go, what to do, where to eat? Will have a rental car.

Definitely take a day trip to Fallingwater.
Food: Primanti Bros is good.
If you like a look at different cultures and history, the different classrooms in the Cathedral of Learning was very cool.

Take the backstage tour of the Pirates stadium. It is a really good tour with a good bit of access including locker rooms on non-game days, dugout, batting cages and press box among other locations...
