My 12 year old daughter is a lefty. She currently shoots a right hand t3 .308. Is there a benefit to getting a left handed rifle for her? If so, what would lefties of the OB suggest? The t3 is a full sized rifle and she has no problem shouldering it so I’m not necessarily looking for a youth model. Appreciate any suggestions.

Poor thing...

Ruger makes the GSR and some of the American rifles in left hand configurations. Might have to change up caliber though.

My favorite rifle is my 257 WBY mag ultralight.
Browning makes a nice lefty micro medallion.

Another option is a Ruger #1 single shot.

I'd just keep her trained on right handed rifles, she'd never know any different

The only advantage in a bolt action is not having to lift your head when engaging the bolt. But then again you have to take your shooting hand off to engage the bolt.

Like everyone said, learn to shoot right handed. It’s best in the end.

Absolutely buy her a left handed rifle. There are several good options for lefties, including the Tikka. I always buy left handed if I have a choice.

My main deer rifle is a left handed browning medallion.

I’m a lefty and didn’t know there was such a thing as a left handed rifle till a few years ago. Always shot RH rifles left handed. Really makes no difference for most intents and purposes.

No real benefit in rifles. My son is lefty and shoots right-handed rifles. We just got him a left handed shotgun this year for duck hunting, which has a tiny advantage over shooting a right handed shotgun. Loads easier for a lefty, safety is correct (some RH shotguns you can switch safety over) and not ejecting shells near your face. Again, not a big advantage but a little bit different. He shot RH shotgun for 4 years without a problem.

Look at getting a pro hunter and you can have a primitive gun along with what ever other caliber you want.

Just go to your favorite gun store and tell them to order a left-handed version in the model that you want. Most places won't have a left-handed model in stock but almost all the manufacturers make them

My favorite deer rifle was a lefty Rem M700 that I bought for myself as a kid in the 90s. Saved for years for that rifle. She will appreciate you getting a left handed rifle for her, and there are more than enough options out there to make it happen.

I found an old Savage that was a lefty bolt action 30-06. I couldn't the money out of my wallet fast enough. Only problem is that when I pass it on to my son it won't work well for him.

I'm right handed, left eye dominate and shoot lefty. I shoot a left handed tikka in .308 and love it.
