Worse, I get to the point where I hate easy days if it's a really nice day I hate having to get out the door and do an hour easy. Give me mile repeats or give me rest!

So I’m still building my mileage back up. I had major shoulder surgery a few years ago that took 6 months to be DC’d from PT and I stopped running for a while when work/life got crazy busy after returning to work.
Anyways- my long runs aren’t long by y’all’s standards and I’m still pretty slow.
My long runs these days are 7-9 miles and I have an 11 min mile avg pace.
I really want to do the CCC with a 10:30 mile pace.
You think that’s doable at this point?
And I’m planning a long run on Saturday 7-8 miles and want to do a short tempo run on Sunday. Is that wise?
I would swap my run plan for the weekend but we’re having ppl over for dinner and drinks Saturday night and I’m not sure I want to do a long run the day after that shindig

Easy days are my favorite. Just going outside and chilling for a while.
Workouts are hit or miss for me, depends on how I am feeling.

Same here.

I dread workouts until after they are over. Then I feel great.

I did ten at 6:25 yesterday. Have a two mile repeat workout this afternoon then easy tomorrow and 21 moderate effort saturday morning. aiming for 65 this week. going to take a dip back to 55-60ish next week then build to 70 over 4 weeks before starting the taper to OKC.

Does anyone else hate rest days?? If I’m super busy with work or whatever it’s easier to not run - but if my schedule is open and the weather is great and it needs to be a rest day- I almost can’t help but hit the pavement.

quote:I would definitely say thats doable if youre hitting 7-9 at 11. you have to factor in your adrenaline is going to be pumping a bit more than normal come race time as well. Id just make sure youre not taking out faster than say 10:20 the first mile and you should be golden.
I really want to do the CCC with a 10:30 mile pace.

I have the 25’s and am really enjoying them as well. I’ve heard the subtle changes to the 26 made it even better.

Absolutely. Run your first two miles of the race at 10:30, then check in with yourself after each mile. Don’t be afraid to pick up the pace a little if you’re feeling strong. If you can run 9 miles at 11/mile, you have more aerobic fitness than you think.

Who’s ready for an early morning long run?!?
Posted on 3/2/24 at 10:00 am to Pedro
gm Pedro
Already finished an 8 mile run - long for me atp - at an 11 min/mile pace.
It was a cluster eff run though. My watch died at mile 3.5 so I had to fish my phone out of my spibelt to open Strava on my phone.
Then one of my toes started bothering me - never happened before so I don’t know what that’s about.
Then I got side splints
My goal this am was 8 miles though so I just pushed through and am pleased with my run.
I guess a bad run is still better than no run right?

Sometimes you gain a lot from those runs were you just have to fight through. Lets you know you can if something goes wrong in a race.
Did 21 at 6:46 pace this morning. Legs started feeling super heavy about mile 13 or so.

I’m thinking abt running the Nashville Rock and Roll half at the end of April.
I’ve not run a half in 4 years though.
Currently, I run 5 days a week- occasionally 6- with one day being a long run.
Do you think I have enough time to get ready for that at this point?

Early morning was not in the cards today.
9 miles at lunch, 8:48/mi. My Garmin is very upset at me because my long run was on Sunday last week and Saturday this week, so the 7 day load is spooky looking. It should fix itself now that Sundays are my days off.

I mean with your volume rn if your goal is just to get to the finish I’d think that should be enough time to get there.

I stopped looking at my recovery suggestions I’m pretty sure it’s trying to figure out how I’m still alive.

14 today at lactate pace (HR 140). 10K this weekend.

18 today at 8:36. Mile 6, 9, and 16 where all sub-8:00 (Marathon Pace training) and kept all other miles at least under 9:00.
Had to run in the afternoon due to my wife going to hang out with her friends this morning, which meant I ran by myself the whole time, the farthest I've run by myself (other than once last year during my first marathon training) and WAAAAY faster than any of my previous attempts (even at shorter distances)
After my 5 mile recovery tomorrow I will have my first 50 mile week ever
I ran the full last year at 3 days a week and no real training plan, you should be fine. (I had also never run a race ever, be it 5k, half marathon, or full)
I'm running the full this year as well, not because I want to, but because my friends are running it. Good luck, you will do great

and of course Garmin and Strava crap the bed on this monumental occasion and I don't get to celebrate my 50 mile week... did I really run 50 miles if it's not on Strava?!?!

If my watch dies or garmin has an issue then I am definitely manually adding the run
