I figured getting a newbie to spend over a $100 on a grinder would be hard enough, much less if I told them that it was designed for only one type of coffee
Good points. Getting into espresso really opened my eyes to how much money people throw at bean water. I’ve got maybe $700 in m...
Espresso purists will rightly point out it doesn't do a precise enough grind for espresso, but it's a good starter grinder that allows you to grind from fine to course. If you're new to espresso, I definitely don't think you need to try to get a more precise grinder as that is quite the inves...

Daily cup: Braun Multiserve drip machine
Pour over: Hario v60
Espresso: Turin Legato
2. Do you grind your own beans?
Yes. I use a Capresso Infinity Plus grinder for my drip, Turin DF64 for my pour over and ...
re: Home espresso machines worth it?
Posted by jordan21210 on 6/2/24 at 2:57 pm
In the coffee world, Nespresso isn’t “real” espresso. It’s good for a daily cup though, just not as good as what you’d get a local specialty shop or from something like a Breville. Pods ain’t cheap either. ...

Yeah I’d hawk FB marketplace. See a lot of good machines pop up for cheap. ...

Man…this weather is just disgusting for running. Anyone who says they’d rather this over the cold is crazy. ...
Is it true that running in shoes is worse for your knees? I haven't dug into the science but I remember the craze claiming that with the "barefoot" shoes
No. The barefoot craze led to injuries for most.
It’s not bad to run barefoot or in minimalist shoes here and there, but do no...

Good commercial for sure.
Depends on how you define number one. Brooks is number one in running shoe sales because they make boring comfortable shoes that people keep going back to and running stores push. Nike and Adidas still own the podiums and overall performance....
re: MERV level on home AC filters in South Louisiana
Posted by jordan21210 on 5/20/24 at 10:41 am
Piggybacking on this: my hvac guy recommended I change the furnace filter a while back, so I swapped it with a MERV 11 furnace filter. I’ve also always run MERV 1 return air filters. Haven’t had any issues with my system and it’s 10+ years old now, but is that overkill? Should I ditch the furnace fi...

Yeah maybe not weird per se, just odd given how common generators are in LA. Would think they’d keep the ability to add an interlock or transfer switch in mind when building houses. ...

Same. Mine came with the house and get full sun in the afternoons. Not sure why the previous owner decided on these for that location. Really want to dig them up and replace but not sure what’s a good replacement for a west facing backyard....

Will depend on your panel. Get an electrician to come out or post pictures of your outside and inside panels here and someone can point you in the right direction.
My house has a weird panel/sub panel setup where the “main” is outside and houses main breaker and ac breaker, the subpanel is clear ...

I thought I wanted that watch until I went look at one in person and tried it on. I like the looks, just didn’t like the weight and how it sat on my wrist. Only other slight knock I had on it is it’s a bit busy. They should ditch the round indices at 6 and ...

Agreed. I love Bearcat but not willing to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for it.
