Kia best be lining chicken’s pockets for how many threads have been started pimping the Telluride on the OT. They must be making money hand over fist on all of you Level 7 Suggestibles

Looks great, especially for the price but I don't trust it to be reliable.

For that kind of car, I'm going Hyundai Palisade at similar pricing - they have been proven to be pretty reliable in recent years IMO. At least for most people I've talked to.

But I haven't ever had issues with toyota and they have all lasted 225k+ so I will probably be sticking with just buying a well serviced used toyata.

The problems are exacerbated by a dealership network accustomed to selling disposable cars to people with bad credit along with bitter service departments hardened by customers that don't maintain their vehicles.

Now this is true talk. Kia/Hyundai's dealer network is NOT keeping up, at all, with the stress put upon it with the Telluride/Palisade/Stinger/Genesis. The brand is trying to shed its previous image of disposability, but it's got a long row to hoe based on these factors.

It's a shame. I like the looks/specs of the Genesis line, and the Stinger is gorgeous. Friend has the Telluride and raves about it.

The wife got the Telluride SX in November. 5000k miles now. It's a great vehicle. She was set on an Audi, but got the Telluride after testing it. I was pleasantly surprised (and so was my wallet).

I turned my parents on to the Palisade and they recently purchased a top trim in that wine red color. It's gorgeous. They also cross-shopped your typical luxury brands and went with the Palisade.

They're sister vehicles- the names tell you the vibe they're intended for. Same engines and share many of the major components.

I'm a big fan of Hyundai/Kia. Today's Hyundai/Kia is nothing like it was a decade ago.

Me too (mainly Hyundai) - if I can get some long term evidence of Hyundai engines being reliable up to 200k+ on a consistent basis, I will definitely be looking at those options on my next car purchase.

Most people do. And it doesn't mean it suddenly becomes completely unreliable on day 91.

What kind of pricing do you get on one?

We spent 40k on our Toyota 4Runner Limited. Checked some local Kia dealers and it looks like a loaded Telluride runs over 40k.

Tellurides are great. 2021s fix a few small issues with the 2020s. We don’t know about longevity at this point, but otherwise they’re great cars at their price. Don’t expect to get much off MSRP though, and you’re going to have trouble finding the exact model you want unless you’re pretty open to options. EX and SX models are legit

Worth mentioning Tellurides are pretty gender neutral too so you don’t have to worry about looking like a soccer mom if you have to drive it. More masculine looking than say the Hyundai Palisade or any number of other less competitive models

Respectfully, I think that was at least part of the point. They don't have a ton of data available on long term reliability. Saying rather anecdotally that people are having problems doesn't really prove anything-it just puts a negative opinion out into the universe. That may very well be justified, but this, and pretty much every other thread addressing the Telluride or any other car for that matter really just ends up being a bunch of folks who have a) never owned one or b) will never look at these brands objectively because of the price point trash that they put out 25 years ago when it was actually somewhat of a feat for a car to make it to 150K miles. This is mostly why I asked in the OP for people who actually have these vehicles to chime in with their opinions.

I was responding this comment on Kia reliability as a brand, not a specific model.

I have several friends w/ Kias/Hyundais and it isn't until they got miles on them that they began to have problems. Powertrain appears to be very reliable, it was interior trim that broke/fell off, door handle, steering column knuckle at 68,000 miles, etc.

Link? Or are we going with "They're not reliable because I know a guy who..."?

I have no opinion on them or experience with them, but I also like to use data to inform how I feel.

Our 2020 Kia Telluride Is Winning the Office Popularity Contest

The Telluride continues to impress us with its reliability as well. It remains faultless from a durability standpoint. Since the last update, we've made trips to the dealer at 15,000 and 22,500 miles for oil changes, tire rotations, and new air filters at costs of $120 and $156, respectively. We made an extra stop at the dealer between those service appointments for an infotainment-system update, covered under warranty, that addresses a voice-recognition issue that we didn't experience.

So family member ownership (Kia/Hyundai) does not count?

Others in this thread have also commented stating as such issues appear w/ some miles and not right away.
