re: The future of the 8-5, M-F, daily work commute?
Posted by kingbob on 5/28/24 at 10:38 am
1. Some jobs simply don’t work remote, but many can, and should be.
2. The jobs which become fully remote are extremely vulnerable to outsourcing to South Asia.
3. Many justify in-person work just to justify their own positions or sunk cost of commercial real estate.
4. Some workers are not...

Pro tip: put a little yellow mustard on the bun under the chili. Those flavors really do go together....
re: What was general consensus on Ahsoka (spelling?)?
Posted by kingbob on 5/26/24 at 10:52 pm
Enjoyment of it really depends on whether or not you watched "Clone Wars" and "Rebels".
If you did, it's a B tier show. Pacing is weird, the sets occasionally look cheap, the acting is uneven, and there's several plot decisions which seem...odd, but it's an entertaining story with some solid d...
re: Sausage - for those not in Louisiana
Posted by kingbob on 5/26/24 at 11:21 am
In my opinion, Manda is great in crawfish boils because it doesn’t have the strongest flavor of its own, and thus absorbs a lot of the flavors around it. In a dish where you are counting on using the sausage as a seasoning to add a lot of flavor, manda is really not the right choice....
re: Do people like Gayle more or less than 5 years ago?
Posted by kingbob on 5/25/24 at 1:40 pm
She literally took away the only good thing about it (the name) and tried to build an upscale brew pub in New Orleans East. Just bad ideas all around....

She burned any good will fans had for her with:
5 years of mediocrity
De-sluttifying the pelicans dancers
Making the saints dance team co-ed
The whole Dixie beer fiasco...

Apparently so. Never told me about it, but yeah. We met right before I turned 20 (she was 3 months older than me). She had apparently went on a grippy sock vacation when she was 18/19 around the time her abusive hs boyfriend bro...

re: As Trump campaigns, he's spreading QAnon posts anew. Some call that 'playing with fire'.

It was obvious to me that Q was a lie or that the “patriots in control” had been outflanked and defeated when covid happened and lockdowns persisted past the first few weeks. Yeah, no “good guy” government would have ever done that.
I was never a true believer, just there for the fun of the chase...
