This is a photo of a British veteran of the Napoleonic wars posing with his wife. He can be seen wearing a campaign medal, commemorating the fact that he served in Spain.
This photograph was taken in 1850, 35 years after the Battle of Waterloo. It is hard to know how old the former soldier was when this picture was taken but we can see that years of poverty and hard living have left their mark.

The show that never happened
Not to highjack the theme here, but its wild that the Skynrd concert was to be on a Friday night at the Assembly Center and the following night, LSU played Oregon in Tiger Stadium. I miss Beaver Productions.
I know this as my parents had tickets to the concert and were still upset about the crash and it was one of the first times we didn't have the house stereo on to listen to the football game the following night.

Woolworth in Delmont Village had soda fountains
Woolworths had a soda fountain as late as 1975. My great Aunt lived across the street (in a house that stood on the current location of the back processing plant of Tony's Seafood) and worked at the Delmont Village Piccadilly for 35 years.
And Little Folks toy store in the back corner for the win.

Nice pull, Dr. Zaius. You deserve a gangster pose with that.
