They chose this route

I said last year this Jesuit team was young. This year after the Alexandria Jamboree and first 5 games of the regular season I said don’t sleep on them. They weren’t picked by anybody for anything this year.

I just wonder if you have to “earn” your flags. Which Jesuit finally was able to do the second half of the second to last game of the year.

fricking amazes me. But you get what you pay for.

Son plays baseball as well. I was talking to an MLB umpire and he told me, Err, there aren’t enough bodies to put there. They are all being paid to “ump” travel ball teams. FUCCING YIKES

ETA said “coach and meant “umps”

You are literally playing with 2 sometimes 1! Umpire for lower class teams. You always get 3 but sometimes 2 umpires in upper class.

It’s ridiculous to ask these guys to do a competent job; but then you take a step back and ask yourself exactly what you are asking them to do.

But all of that can be put back on the LHSSA IMO

Is Karr as strong as years past this year? I know this Neville team is the real deal. Should be a barn burner. Assuming they meet in the finals.

Wouldn’t go ahead and pencil in Neville just yet. Warren Easton was beating Karr all game until a late TD pass on 4th and long. That’s gonna be a good game

So North LA got swept in 5A? Got it. What a shock. Monroe fanboys talked a good game though.

West Monroe can’t get by their daddy even when they get up 21-0

High school refs are generally terrible.

CP beat WF 28-14. CP is a solid team and they run that offense well. Not sure how they will hold up against Sterlington as I haven’t seen them play. Got a little chippy in the end because of some late hits. Will root for ZHS from here on out and look to next year for WF.

I tend to agree but on the other hand I think there needs to be more of them.

Yeah I don’t disagree with there needing to be more and I also try to keep in mind that I certainly ain’t trying to go out there and ref. It’s a thankless job and they don’t get paid enough. And I have to believe personal bias doesn’t come into play a ton in the playoffs with the out of area guys.

This is what wonder too. And it’s hard to get away from when you look at the whole picture.

shite my dad was an umpire with all the cool gear. Did it on nights and weekends. Was probably better than slinging a paper.

Maybe I’ll try to get into it for the love of the game…but Jesus, Mary and Joseph nobody needs a call from you, on a play you may understand but have no idea what motion to do for the audience to understand. Much less a 5 minute deliberation

So basically the same thing that happens every time Easton plays Karr?

Yep. Plus Walker had walking pneumonia, several starters had the flu, and their top receiver/kickoff returner was hurt in the 1st quarter and I don’t believe he played the 2nd half at all. Oh yeah, and don’t forget about the terrible no-call for the block in the back on the interception late in the game.

ED White did play a heck of a game, but to say they “whipped Walker’s arse” is not accurate at all.

Additionally every year WM takes the L when they head down south and whine about the refs.

Maybe this year they had a point but it's hard to take seriously when this is a constant. Sounds like they kinda got jobbed in some cases today but were also trying to hold like they were the Kansas City chiefs.

Every year someone is always whining about the refs whenever they lose. High school sports doesn’t have professional refs, or even competent refs. Just the way it is.

Any team up 21-0 on the road in the first quarter and cant find more than 3 points the rest of the game should never whine about officials.

Destrehan will take care of Zachary next week.

When you play the " they can't possibly call holding every play so we're going to do it" game you then can't turn around and get pissed once the refs start calling holding every play especially at the high school level.

The refs aren't like they are in the NFL they're not going to evaluate the degree of holding for entertainment purposes they're going to call it if they see it.

From reading around it seems like the WM coaches were trying to work the refs pretty agressively which probably didn't help their cause

His WRs did him no favors as well tonight thru dropped a lot of balls.

He has a nice release and great accuracy. Hopefully he gets stronger though I think he can use about 10/20 yards on his ball
