Some a-hole will create “Archibald Manning” or some variation to get him edited into the game, but a video up online and that will lead to a new lawsuit. I honestly think this is going to be a “one and done” situation with this game.
I think EA is probably well aware of that possibility and is planning accordingly.

The old NCAA games came with everything except the player's name set to roster/player accurate. User-editors just had to change the player's name, but the player in the game already had the same height, weight, and skill ratings as the real player. Maybe EA could get around that by making Texas' backup QB in the game look completely different than Arch, have a different number, and skill ratings that don't remotely match Manning. Make the 2nd string QB for Texas in the game be a 5'11" black guy with dual threat QB skill ratings. Then if somebody goes through all the trouble of changing all of that to edit him into having the appearance and skill ratings of Manning, at least EA can argue that the game they produced didn't remotely have anything resembling players that opted out.

Or if the legal team doesn't think that argument is bullet proof in court, then the game probably just won't have downloadable user-created rosters and/or rosters that are editable at all.

Naw all they would do is just limit your ability to rename the opt out guys.

The players have no leverage in this. No one is buying it for the real players, we are buying it for our attachment to our schools, our desires to make a name at some random low level team, and to insert ourselves into the college games and become a legend. The current players are all window dressing quite honestly.

This, I dont care if the real players lend their name when i am in year 10 of my dynasty. They could release this game with no real names and I would be just fine with that.

Yep. You know what years of my dynasty I care the least about? The ones with current actual players.

With large scale NIL projects like this one, I feel like a CFBPA is inevitable.

A generic player created “based on the traditional strength or weakness of a position over the past decade for that school” will be used in place of players who opt out, Daryl Holt, EA Sports senior vice president, told ESPN.

The generic player will likely be better than Manning, lol. Kid is just not as good as his name.

EA should go to a competing sponsor of The Home Depot College Football Awards Show like Lowes and see how much they would be willing to spend to sponsor and name the college football awards in the game.

Yup I am not starting with a powerhouse program at all, I am thinking Sam Houston State and will work at bringing in as many 5* recruits as I can. I am sure others can remember having a #1 recruiting class with a school like Wyoming.

They didn't have the actual award names in past years I don't think. Only the Heisman.

They were in the prior game. NCFAA was not happy with the amount offered by EA and said the awards were undervalued in prior iterations of game and they should have been paid more.

Before EA Sports made the call to cancel the series a decade ago, NCFAA awards were included.

They’ll bend the knee after realizing recruits don’t give a shite in the NIL-age of CFB

EA should just go ask old great players if they can use their name for awards.

OL Award: Andrew Whitworth
WR: Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson
QB: Manning/Burrow/Brady
etc...

Yep, NCFAA should’ve taken the deal for the exposure. I’d bet that a majority of fans that play the game wouldn’t be able to name most of the awards or tell you what position each was awarded for. As long as the Heisman is in the game, thats the only award most players will care about anyway

I do still want them to include them even if it’s not the literal name of the award. In my main dynasty, I go until I have had a player when every single award, including best Punter.
