So you want BK to be paid $10 million and underwood to get nothing? nobody complained about money when bo davis got paid a record salary. nobody complained about money when texas and ou paid $100 million each to change conferences. now that its the players setting records everybody says the sky is falling.

some kind of salary cap with maximums would be great too. And honestly if thats even possible, some type of limit on transfers based on eligibility would settle all this shite down too. Like if you have one year remaining the max is 250k.

Although is feel like anything like this would need to be a collective bargaining type thing which would most likely get shot down by a players association.

Yes, that's a tried and true negotiating tactic. I don't blame an agent for trying, nor should you.

That is portal recruiting for some in this day and age. It's partially what Nick Saban said drove him out of the game.

But the Williams situation is not the case for every player, every agent, or every family in recruiting.

And that's where I think Steve Sarkisian has it right.

Yes, NIL should be there. But it should be the last thing discussed, not the first.

I'm not so sure that was ever the case in the Williams recruitment, even from the very outset, and perhaps why the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze.

If you actually believed that oklahoma (and/or any other school) was making a big mistake with their NIL deals, you'd be jumping for joy, not grumbling about it. If you think OU is messing up by paying williams what they're paying him, you should be rooting for it to continue happening, not wishing for NIL to calm down or go away. You think 2001 Billy Beane was hoping that other franchises would STOP overpaying for saves and stolen bases and batting average? Hell no - the fact that the richer franchises were overpaying was exactly what allowed him to assemble such great teams. If the richer teams (in our case, texas, oklahoma, miami, etc) wised up and started spending more intelligently, that would be *worse* for LSU, because they'd still have more $ and now they'd be spending it smarter.




Bottom line: If other teams are overpaying on the NIL market, that's great news for LSU, and we should want that to continue, so that we can exploit the resulting inefficiency. It makes no sense to wish for the inefficiency to go away.




(Also, I just want to add that it's absolutely hilarious to act like it's some moral outrage for a player to care about money more than things like facilities, staff, and gameday experience. I'm certain that the next time you turn down a six-figure pay bump because the other place has modern offices and a great holiday party, it will be the first.)

Grumbling? Nope, observing and predicting.
Rooting for it to contiue to happen;? t cant, it will be someone else, diluting all the underdeveloped talent. There is no money tree.

Again, it will not be A progrram, it will be a hodgepodge of multiple programs, there is no return for the investor on this investment except for football wins, and that will fade.

How much is a full ride scholarship worth at a major university? Don't tell me they are not being paid. The only solution is to give them a choice. Either the scholarship or the cash, not both. Let them make the "business decision".

yea, melting over 1 guy when the news is slow is crazy and way less meaningless then you are making it out to be

I don't blame him. I have several friends that have coached various sports in college and majority of them left b/c of the chaos it has become.
