Just curious, when was the last time we could lay bunts down consistently? Trying to remember.

100% agree. Kid’s got a wicked 12-6 curve that absolutely bends like a rainbow. But that’s all he has. Once hitters catch on to it, it’s over. He’s a two inning pitcher at max. Which is why he has so many appearances with so few innings. Jay knows this, Guidry was a great call in that situation, he’s nails when you need one out or one inning but don’t expect anything more, not at this level.

You said he didn’t pitch regularly

He does. That is exactly what appearances signify dude

Lately he has been called on less. I think that’s what he was getting at. He seems to have hit a shaky spot and doesn’t have his best command.

Problem is he’s a 2 pitch pitcher with a soft fastball. Easy to sit on the curve.

But it’s hard to hit that slider. Paul Bertuccini was a guy with a plus curve and a soft fastball he couldn’t locate. CPM used to pop him in there against the right guys, in high leverage situations, and he delivered. Then CPM would lift him quickly.

Guidry has a much better fastball but his offspeed isn’t quite as good as Bertuccini's was. It seems like CJJ is using him well, and if Guidry can regain his fb command he could be a useful bullpen piece.

Maybe during those awful bat years where Paul had our starting lineup averaging 5’6” 125lbs. Lol
