It can be who's career you've enjoyed more. Who you think had better projects. Whatever.

I like Russell in about everything I have seen with him in it.

Bridges is pretty good.

Have never been a fan of Costner. Yellowstone is about the only thing besides Tin Cup I can stand him in.

Agreed. Don’t particsrly care for Costner. He can be alright in a movie but I find there’s something pretty unlikable about him

Kevin Costner is a great storyteller and narrator. He has a great resume.

Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski is a great career in itself.

Never cared much for Kurt Russell. He’s too cheesy in his roles. Although I did like him in Executive Decision.

Kind of an odd comparison

Better actor: Bridges
Most entertaining: Russell
Best Resume overall: Costner

Bridges has my favorite movie of the three.

I probably enjoy Russell’s overall body of work better. I’d also say that while growing up, he made movies that appealed to me more (action and comedy) than what Bridges did.

Costner has made some good movies that I like, but has always been a little too much ham as an actor.

In terms of “who do I think has made most money/been the biggest star” it’s probably Costner.

Kevin Costner is a national treasure.
Dances with Wolves is one of the greatest movies of all time. If Field of Dreams doesn’t choke you up at the catch with dad scene, you have no soul. Bull Durham is a great baseball movie. As is For Love of The Game. Tin Cup. JFK. A Perfect World. Open Range.

And yes. Robin Hood.

All great.

His love of cowboys and baseball and America is what this country is all about.

Kurt Russell and the Dude are both great in their own right. Big Lebowski is also in my top 10. I’m not trying to dismiss them.

But better career? It’s Costner, no doubt.

ETA: Great question. Even if I only wrote about Costner, I love both of those other guys too.

Kurt Russell just for longevity. He has been acting since he was a kid and is still relevant

If the criteria is based strictly on career it’s hard to go against Costner.

It seems like Russell and Bridges have had steadier careers, Costner has had some low points. I’ll give Russell the nod, because he did all those Disney movies as a kid and he was in The Thing.
(There’s a parallel universe where Kurt Russell was Batman in the 80s or 90s. It’s almost as good as the one where Clint Eastwood had the role in the 70s)

Kurt is no.1, but Bridges is a closer second than I expected him to be. Costner is a distant third. He has an overall lack of range that really pales in comparison to Russell.

Costner couldn't compile a range, and be as believable, as:
The Thing
Sky High
Death Proof
Tombstone
Overboard
Miracle
Big Trouble in Little China
Hateful 8

That's a massively wide spectrum.

Bridges is the best actor but Russell has had the best career.

Costner would have topped both if he wasn’t persona non grata for quite a while after Waterworld and The Postman. He didn’t do much of significance for years afterward until Yellowstone et all

I wish I could answer. The idea started as an outgrowth of the "Best Of Times" and "The Fabulous Baker Boys" threads. All three are of a similar age and have had careers running on semi-parallel tracks, especially Russell and Bridges starting out as child actors.

I think Russell wins for me on likeability. I loved him in Best Of Times, Used Cars, Tombstone, Miracle and a host of others including his Disney movies and even on Gilligan's Island wanting to shag Mary Ann and Ginger.

I've also loved Jeff Bridges ever since I watched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and enjoyed 90% of what he's done. I wondered if they had ever appeared in a movie together (which they haven't) and that started the premise.

I added Costner because he's clearly been the most successful from a box office perspective. I've enjoyed a shite ton of his movies (Field Of Dreams, Dances With Wolves, JFK, Bull Durham, For The Love Of The Game), but I'm the least connected to him personally. He feels bland by comparison to the other two; an every man which can be good and boring at times.

That said, I loved his character in "3000 Miles To Graceland" with ... Kurt Russell. Hence the question.
