I'm planning on moving up that way before the end of the year. Problem is I have no idea where I'd like to live, other than be kinda close to mountains.

I'm an OT poor who is in a transitional phase and will be living in an apartment or subleasing a room for the short term. I've found places that I can afford pretty much all over the state, I'm just having trouble narrowing down my choices. I've looked at Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Superior, etc... But I would be open to living anywhere. It's going to be a fresh start so to speak, so I don't really care.

Do you guys have any recommendations or warnings?

Yep!

I'd say if you want to live in Denver, live on the west side. Otherwise if you live 1 hour North or South of Denver you can't go wrong with what's out there.

really depends on where you will work...

towns in Colorado really vary a lot, so you have to figure out how liberal or conservative a town you want to live in...

also vary in scenery and things to do outdoors...price varies dramatically depending on how close to the mountains you are...

Getting out of my current career field because it sucks the life out of me. Just need a fresh start. Don't really care what I do or where I live for the short term, I just think Colorado would be a cool place to start.

Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor is nice, but it ain't cheap. Rent is in short supply, make sure you have a good real estate agent working for you.

If you choose apartments in Colorado Springs, look for complexes on 21st and also Cresta Rd. The complexes towards Falcon and Peyton are nice also. This would be Hwy. 24 east. You need to stay away from areas close to the airport and the south side of town.

Be ready for people to throw you tons of shade for being a transplant. You're making everything more expensive and the traffic a constant pain in the arse.

Yep. Wife doesn't care either. She's on board, just wants me to be happy. She's a great woman and she'll be able to find a job pretty much anywhere with her degree.

Whatever you do, stay out of Pueblo. It's a festering shite hole...used to be nice 20-30 years ago. Avoid it at all costs.

I live very close to Colorado Springs...building a house there, but live in Woodland Park right now (20 miles west on Hwy. 24 passed Manitou Springs). If you choose Colorado Springs, look into this guy Real Estate agent

He's a damn good guy and really smart. He helped us a lot and he's helping me get my parents up there with us. Colorado Springs is a bad arse city.
