They refuse to build. Permit prices in places cost more than the construction. Policies against building high density housing. Combine that with massive influx of immigration and they have a huge issue even finding apartments.

Funny that they don’t list mass third world immigration or an authoritarian regime among the reasons for people fleeing.

But the do mention "climate", probably as in "change". I'm sure there's always been the snowbirds moving south but not enough to do damage or leave permanently.

Lefties destroy destroy destroy and are unable of fixing anything.

The only problem is it’s the wrong people leaving: the taxpayers.

Actually most older wealthy Canadians are the ones voting against allowing high density housing.

It is the younger generations and immigrates that have nowhere to live.

I don't think you recall correctly.

Expatriation Tax has always been a thing, if you renounce your US citizenship you owe taxes that would normally be owed for people that basically have a few million in net worth.. Typically held in retirement accounts that you would have owed taxes on when you cashed it out. So it's basically paying the government what you owe before you leave.

Yet, many from Whitehorse still come to Juneau for health care.

This isn’t unique to Canada

This is basically normal in 90% of the world. Only in the boomers generation, in the US, did housing availability and costs of living change western expectations.

Some places need fences to keep people out. And some need them to keep people in.

Got a friend (business owner) looking to leave Canada. Already doing the immigration hassle. Would simply come here illegally, but he wouldn't be able to move his business.

We may two border problems here in the future.

Makes you wonder if the people immigrating aren’t exactly the kind of people Trudeau wants.

I dont see the attraction of living with mom and dad until I'm 40.

Sounds like giving up on life.

I’m all about the Midwest Canadian provinces to join the US. Not Quebec or Ontario, not sure about BC.

There was a female politician that tried to become “Canada’s trump”. She wanted to prioritize Canadians and Canadian values. The media there gave her such hell and made so much fun of her that she moved all the way to Jacskon, MS.

True story. You can look it up.

I think you're being pretty narrow-minded here.

Other countries have much different cultures than we do, and most of the world cannot stuff mom and dad into an old folks home with a health assistant for 24/7 caretaking.

Just be thankful you were born with global conditions that enabled even the dumbest and most incapable of the boomer Gen, to thrive and obtain private property. No education necessary, just breathing.

China and corporations bought a significant number of houses in Vancouver starting after the 2010 Olympics. Five or six years ago they had to pass a law banning non Canadians from purchasing homes.

Not at all. It depends on what type of lifestyle you want to live.

I dont want to be tethered to parents and their finances the rest of my life, which is exactly what would happen.
