Lake Charles peeps have you ever noticed these bomb shelter looking buildings by Chennault

I never noticed them until the other day as I was driving through Morganfield going to Home Depot. What's interesting is the Google maps car actually went down there and you can go through it on maps. What exactly are they? Does anyone know? This is the backside of Chennault so possibly something to do with that at one point?

Those are ammo bunkers. There are a bunch of them in Huntington Beach in Ca. Of course, right next to a naval base

Probably munitions storage from the days when it was an Air Force base. Those types of buildings are still at a lot of Air Force bases that don’t have a bomber/fighter mission any more, but did in the past. Columbus AFB and Little Rock AFB are the first that come to mind. When I was at Columbus they were used for general storage I believe. Or nukes

I passed by them a couple of weeks ago and noticed them. Never knew they were out there before then. Thanks for reminding me. Are any of the old round top hangers still around or did the hurricanes finish them all off?

I passed down Old Camp road last week and the trees and vegetation have been cleared on the south side of the road. There are a bunch of cement slabs from the old Gerstner air field that are visible now. I had no idea those were out there.

They have a couple in Houma on the Airbase. One is catacorner from Ellender HS. Ammo bunkers is what we were always told.

Look at Guam or Okinawa or any place there was war activity. You will see bomb bunkers ,B 52 tracks on the tarmac and taxiways.
You can also see prints wher aircraft burned on the ground.
If you really want to see old stuff, you can research where the bomb runs were on the Ploiesti refineries during WWII. Comparing those withGoogle Satellite View you can see bomb craters,anamolies of the surface due to bombs and actual ruins of the refineries that are still there.
Can do the same with Viet Nam and see the craters.
All lot of the Dink’s there have made fish pond out of Arc Light strike attacks that made massive craters around the country.
Google Maps is amazing to me. I will never be able to travel the world. But National Geograhic and now Satellite View Maps enable me to see place I will never see b

The whole area has never made any sense to me. It seems like under utilized and wasted space. I do know Northrop Grumman has offices doing something over there.
I went by the Charter facility looking for Hertz a few weeks back (erroneously labeled). The charter place was dead empty except for one gal. I suppose they get enough business to keep it running.

Houma Munitions Bunker Raid
Do some research and see what allegedly went on at one of those bunkers in the ‘60,s.
Hint for Google. The Houma Bunker Raid. and various other readings.
It’s a rabbit hole of reading.
I remember my Grandfather and I reading about this when I was 5 years old. He used to read the newspaper to me at 5 AM every morning.
I miss my PawPaw.

Yes sir. That would be Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station. On loaded and off loaded many a round there.
