The bag of dog food I bought for my dogs today was $17.95. A year ago it was $12.75. Isn’t that around a 40% increase?

What’s this 8.5% bullshite?

This - when they don’t specify the timeframe

Assume month

And it multiplicative

8.5% increase every month

It's the average of all items.

With various adjustments to make it look lower.

You live in a time when we're gaslit about everything, everyday. Journalists and academics live to serve The Narrative.

Did you expect each and every item to be raised 8.5%? Some items are up 3%, other things are up 10%. Inflation effects different items differently

They change the inputs to manipulate the output is the real answer

The standard is annualized. You don't know shite about shite.

It's based off of a basket of goods. The basket isn't entirely dog food. Some segments increase more than others. Ignorant asses.

This number doesn't include all the things we buy/use everyday; gas, food, etc.

They have pulled out volatile items over the years - like gas for one - so the current statistics are not accurate.
