I was reading some replies on Twitter and they say oh it is because her ancestors were raped as slaves but never true love.

Built on slaves sold to slave traders by blacks, but you will never hear that condemnation put upon those who sold them into slavery, because there’s no financial or political gain in that.

Well, that doesn’t help to divide, conquer, and destabilize this country by placing the same blame upon either the black Africans who initially made a profitable business out of capturing and selling fellow black Africans into slavery, or the blacks in this country that also profited off of the selling of human flesh. All of it is sick, but perhaps sickest is the blatant dishonesty. Nobody can control the past or the actions of others in the past, but we sure can hold the dishonest people living today and dividing this country for their own spoils accountable for their profiteering from it all.

As it happens, I'm also a descendant of William Brewster and Mary Wentworth Brewster (they're my 11th great-grandparents) so what I learned tonight is that I'm Angela Davis's distant cousin!

The wife and I watched this episode last night. The cognitive dissonance is amusing watching people try to process what they just learned about their ancestral history. And then Skip Gates is right there needling them about it with a "How does that make you feel?" The other guest's history, Jeh Johnson, was just as interesting. His fourth great grandfather, a white man, basically left his white wife and two kids to go live with his black slave mistress and their ten kids. Angela Davis genetically is 48.5% white. Jeh Johnson is 51%.
