Anyone have any suggestions on must do's outside of Red Sox Game and North End Freedom Trail?

Looking for suggestions on places to stay, eat, beaches, etc?

Looking at going in July.

Not sure about Cape Cod but save time for Boston Harbor as well as walking the Beacon Hill and Back Bay neighborhoods. Boston has some great neighborhoods if you venture out. Red Sox game is a must of course.

The Cape gets crowded on weekends during summer.
We booked a place in late June on Hyannis back in December with plans to check out Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

From the Cape you could always hit Martha's Vineyard, ferry ride day trip.

A better day trip from Boston with limited time would be either to Newport Rhode Island or up to coastal Maine. Both are not that far away.

Where are you staying? What types of stuff are you into doing? With a family or just adults? All of this makes a difference.

just me and my wife.

I am open to ideas, I planned on a Red Sox game. I am also trying to plan around golf at The Country Club and Old sandwich.

Wife would like to see the beach. I'd like to try some restaurants.

I agree with what another poster said - the Cape in the summer time is really packed. There are tons of great beaches that are much closer to Boston that you should also consider.

Shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you my guide - it has tons of restaurant recommendations.

First time I went to a NE beach, I ran and dove into the water without feeling the temperature. Neatly had a frickin heartattack! That water is COLD even on the hottest summer day.

While not the cape, you can take the commuter rail up to Gloucester by the Sea for a nice beach day without spending too much time on travel.

If they are playing that night, check out a Chatham Anglers cape league baseball game in Chatham on the Cape. Americana at its finest.

I second Chatham. It is a beautiful part of The Cape.

The Chatham lighthouse is the one in that recent movie with Chris Pine based on that ship they had to rescue, can't remember the name.

It's a cool area.
If you drive up and down the cape they have summer collegiate teams in all those little towns and it's a really neat area. Bring a navigation device because getting around the Cape is not easy, you could find yourself driving around in a circle on all the little roads. Parking sucks too!
