Literally never heard that part of it in my 58 years....
No womenz in the one I caught on my April trip to the Everglades. Struck out on my May trip but did get 124 snakes, including another coral snake. Red touch yellow are the good ones, right? [img]https://i.postimg.cc/HkvpBJpX/IMG-3981.jpg...

Yep, blackest I’ve ever caught - my personal favorite - was at Jean Lafitte. Even the belly was the darkest I’ve seen. There’s a lot of variation by region for cottons....

Glass lizards are so cool! I had never seen one before this year, then during my April south Florida trip I found over 20 Island glass lizards, then a big, gorgeous Eastern glass lizard in north Florida on the way back. Got my second Eastern as my first catch this trip at Apalachicola National Fores...

Caught 12 corns snakes so far this week! Believe it or not, I had never caught a red corn snake in my life prior to this week (though I got a Slowinski’s corn last month). But on my current Florida trip, I got my lifer at Apalachicola National Forest last Sunday, then 1 in Big Cypress, then 10 mo...

Every single ones of those bastards musked me. And when you grab them they freak out and fling it all over. It has a unique almost “sweet” smell - not nearly as bad as water snakes....
What's the reason for all the markings on her hand and arm?
It’s so they can track the progress of the swelling. I heard a venomous bite feels like sticking your hand on a hot bbq grill…I’ll report back when I eventually get tagged. Caught 3 pygmy rattlers Sunday evening at Apal...

The part of the story that I left out was that on the second night that I caught 4, one got away in my wife’s SUV and vanished under the seat - either underneath the carpet or in the floor AC duct. Spent 15 hours out of sight, then it came crawling out while I was driving the next day. Of course, my...
Skimmer snake. Very dangerous if you stick your hand in there unexpectedly. You could pull a hammy, break an ankle or all sort of things. Unless you're Tigerdad. Then you climax.
...

Yes - they pretty much only eat amphiumas, so they usually hang out in swampy areas. If there’s an a swampy area with a road running through it, they are easier to cruise up on the road than to hike up in the swamp. You want to road cruise them right at dark. And May is the best time because they a...
how’s their temperament?
They don’t bite, ever. They’re very unique in their behavior. They tuck their head against their body and lash out like striking but don’t open their mouth. They curl up their tail to give you that flash of red, and sometimes flip over to show their belly...
My friend is like this at Chimes every time we go to lunch. We’ll be talking and the waitress comes by and he’s like, “Oh wait, let me look at the menu.” And I’m like,”It’s the same stuff they had the other 50 times we came here.”...
