re: Beef bottom round roast
Posted by SpotCheckBilly on 5/18/24 at 10:38 am
If you have a way to slice it real thin, make cheese steaks.
Otherwise, I usually cut it in chunks and make some sort of stew/chili dish out of it. I have made Peposo out of one. I think it's better with a chuck roast, but it was still good....

Their concept of distance is crazy though. The idea of driving a couple of hours is something people in the US don't think about.
True. I work with some folks from Europe. When I told them I was driving from Atlanta to New Mexico,, they had no concept of how far it was. When I...

re: NC Senate votes to ban wearing mask in public
Posted by SpotCheckBilly on 5/16/24 at 2:53 pm
Wearing a mask in public has been against the law in many places for many years. It is typically a local law, designed to curtail Klan activity.
Auburn has such a law on the books and it was used a few years back when some antifa-types decided to come on campus to demonstrate against a speaker. ...

Give them a pole and some bait. By now there ought to be fish using that ship and the wreckage as cover. ...
re: After 146 Years of Construction, world's largest Church set to be completed in 2026
Posted by SpotCheckBilly on 5/16/24 at 7:42 am
It is an amazing structure. I hope to go back one day and check it out again. There are other interesting works of Gaudi throughout Barcelona, including a really nice park that overlooks the city and an apartment building, all of which look like they could have been designed by Dr. Seuss.

How do you boycott the release of someone?...

I usually look at this guy's stuff for Italian stuff. His Peposo recipe is great.

re: Former President Jimmy Carter ‘Coming to the end’ per his Grandson
Posted by SpotCheckBilly on 5/15/24 at 9:22 am
He's certainly had a long run. His presidency and years as governor were a mixed bag and certainly failed to live up to the promise put forward by his campaign.
He was known to be very stubborn and difficult to work with. ...
re: La House committee advances bill to ban consumable THC products
I am in Alabama and just ordered some easy hemp company sparkling water today. It has 3 mg of THC. I’m truly shocked that I can buy this in Alabama.
I think the deal is that if they are extracting the THC from hemp, which has a very small amount of naturally occurring THC, it's oka...
If you want to extrapolate it out 85 is like that from Atlanta to Charlotte. There are a few farms/open land(between Jefferson, GA to Anderson, SC) but it's mostly all built up now
True, which is why I said from Clemson to Charlotte, instead of from Atlanta to Charlotte. ...
I drive up 65 through to 85 several times a year. It's become rather old hat, but still, 65 from Mobile to Montgomery remains the most brutally boring stretch of Interstate I know of. Time just seems to move at an absolute crawl during that stretch for some reason.
