re: New conference name needed
Posted by Tideroller on 5/16/24 at 1:45 pm
The problem isn't the name of the conference, it's the fact that you're in it. Missouri leaves, name stays the same, everyone's happy....

If it weren't for people being upset over trivia or beating dead horses, there would be a 75% reduction in threads here. This one qualifies for both....

re: 2024 CFB RETURNING PRODUCTION
Posted by Tideroller on 5/14/24 at 3:17 pm
To get back to the original topic, our kicker was responsible for 113 points, that's 24% of our total scoring. He graduated and we got last year's Lou Groza award kicker via the portal. The 53% number is a little misleading....

Does it mean a 5-1 record? A winning percentage of 80?...

It always amazes me how some fans deride a team that just beat their arse. Georgia never took a single snap in the 4th quarter with a chance to take the lead. ...
re: SEC men's basketball 2024-25 conference opponents announced

They also changed the number of teams you have for yearly home and home series from 3 to 2. For us, that means we won't play LSU home and away each year, which sucks IMHO....
Vegas has better odds they go 9-3 than 10-2.
Vegas also has Milroe with the 4th best Heisman odds (behind Beck, Ewers and Dillon Gabriel). Our degree of success this year will depend on many things other than Milroe, he'll be fine, and so will Ty Simpson be as backup..

Interesting conversation on Chuck Oliver re UGA and NIL.
Posted by Tideroller on 5/14/24 at 2:36 pm
Yesterday Chuck Oliver said that UGA seemed to be using its NIL money primarily to induce recruited players to stay, as opposed to using it to pay incoming transfers. It's like "here's what our WR's get" or "here's what our RB's get" and the player decides to come or not.
I have no idea how accu...

re: The Case for Notre Dame to join the SEC

Sure, I can see that. I've just always thought that the right guy at ND could bring them back to being a great team, that they're a sleeping giant, not a place where it's impossible to win big. And I HATE ND....

At Wisconsin with Luke Fickell is probably more difficult than AU at home, but you're right about it being a brutal schedule.
Saban lost to UAB and got blown out in the Cotton Bowl before he won his first national title.
That's true at LSU. At Alabama he inherited a terrible Shula roster and went 7-6, including a home loss to Louisiana Monroe in his first year. In year 2 he went 12-0 and then lost to Teb...
