re: Per Kash Patel: Subpoena's need to go out today from GOP leadership and Florida AG.

Didn't that Cassidy Hutchinson chick illegally record a phone conversation while in the state of Florida?
She also lied to Congress, but that's not a state matter.
Florida can open the can of worms from that angle, and it will lead to who she was working for....
re: Name a better comfort food than kraft mac & cheese, ground beef & cream of mushroom soup

In response to the original post:
Black Beans and ground beef with Southwestern/Mexican Seasoning, either served as a burrito or just on rice.
2nd place: floured and fried pork chop served with black beans and rice.
Lots of things outrank anything with condensed soup in it....

Always thought they should have raised them while Trump was in office, his pro-business policies could have handled the rate increases and we would be in a much better situation today.
They did. They acted aggressively in 2018. Many economist warned it was too much too soo...

re: Saving for Future Weddings?

If you haven't fully funded a Roth IRA for both you and your wife do that first. You can always withdraw your contributions without penalty to pay for things like weddings. If you can't do a Roth consider a back door Roth. If that doesn't make sense, do a Roth conversion. You can get that after ...
re: Just won a side of beef in a raffle. Processor is asking how I want it portioned. Update!

We used to do a half cow (big family) in the 1970's early 80's and always got bones, which we then cooked along with whatever we were cooking, but we gave them to the dogs. Those were very happy dogs who knew what was coming when you started the grill.
During a hurricane, our neighbors left town...

Shop around to find the best ground beef in your area. Here, I have found it is Pulbix Greenwise Ground Chuck. Grass Fed is usually too lean, all that Wagyu and Kobe seems to be lesser cuts that are ground finer but with a higher fat content.
Don't buy patties, buy ground beef. Don't form the ...
re: Probably been said but there is a fix to the student debt "crisis"
Posted by CharlesUFarley on 5/16/24 at 2:59 pm
The people who make the loan and finance the loan need to be tied to the risk of the loan. We all saw what happened in 2008 when mortgage brokers would make any loan to anyone and mortgage buyers bought any loan regardless of credit quality. The student loan situation today is very similar.

re: savings for grandchild

Do a 529 or some other kind of account that you like, but set up a small savings account and put a little money in it at Christmas every year and discuss it with them but don't let them spend it. Then, when they get old enough to earn income, do a match on whatever they put in there. You can do a ...
re: 56% of GOP voters want govt to pay more in monthly SS benefits/medicare
Posted by CharlesUFarley on 5/15/24 at 2:32 pm
It is an entitlement because your average recipient takes out far more than they put in.
Depends on how you look at it. SS works by totaling how much you how much you made of the top 35 years of your life and then indexing those earnings to inflation.
Then SS plugs that figu...
Meanwhile, interest on the debt (which we are largely incurring due to ss and Medicare) is now the 2nd largest expenditure.

Not true Medicare and SS are flawed programs, but as of right now Congress has not borrowed any money to fund them. Congress has borrowed money from them ...

re: Retirement investment options and expected return

That 1 for 2 reduction only applies to earned income from a job or business, not unearned income from investments and retirement assets.
However, unearned income does result in a part of your SS benefits being taxable income, and in one of the most unfair twists in tax law I can think of, for a...

Mine is mostly stock with about two years of current spending in cash and one year in a floating rate fund. re: Saving More for Retirement - Trad IRA vs Normal Brokerage Account

You should consider your top marginal income tax rate now and what you expect it to be in retirement. You don't know what the rates will be in the future, just use today's rates, or go back and use the Obama rates. It probably works the same.
Use a reasonable rate to project your tax deferred 4...

If it has a traditional automatic transmission and you just let it sit without properly preparing the transmission, you will probably have to replace or rebuild the transmission when you return.
If it has a tank mounted fuel pump. same thing.

No, but Biden did, and the intelligence community that would have warned Johnson about Iranian Nukes works for Biden and would surely have objected to giving Iran money to fuel their nuclear ambitions....

Why does he expect anyone to believe this when we just loosened sanctions and gave Iran billions of $ to further their terrorist and military goals? Surely if such dire intelligence exists, our intelligence community would have prevented that. At the very least, the intelligence community would be...
