Why wouldn’t Mitchell consider transferring if he doesn’t get a chance to play (i.e. Zeb Ruddell)? CJJ is going to play the same outfield he played this year with Kling, Pearson, Brown and Larson. Actually you can. If you do not play in any games, the coach can designate you as a redshirt to preserve a year for a player. Mitchell and Roellig are on the 40 man roster. We just learned that they are redshirting after the Grambling game. ...

I would not be surprised if we see more attrition in the upcoming weeks. CJJ stayed with the same guys and got the same result which is insane. Ruddell had a good fall and spring this year and couldn’t see the field. Immediately redshirting Mitchell and not giving him a chance to play is mind boggli...

Mitchell was definitely at the game. He was standing in batters box in the bullpen. I don’t understand why more players don’t do this to help recognize pitches and spin. It’s only going to make him better. Looks like he put on some weight as well. Check out these swings he posted on his social media...

I would not say Derrick Mitchell is raw. The kid has a lot of talent, baseball knowledge and skills to play at this level and beyond. He comes from a family of professional baseball players.
