re: Crew of the Dali (ship that hit Baltimore bridge) still trapped on board the ship
Sounds like they are being detained as it is. They can’t be charged with anything yet.

if they're being detained, they should be in jail. If they're free to go, they should be free to go. Leaving people in limbo in perpetuity is fricked up....
die arent allowed to just go free into our country.
Not go roam free, but at least put them up in some accommodations. If they are being detained for some crime, put them in jail. If they are being asked to stay for an investigation, give them some accommodation.
The FBI also t...
Crew of the Dali (ship that hit Baltimore bridge) still trapped on board the ship
Posted by Thundercles on 5/16/24 at 9:14 am
I had no idea. The government is saying "due to lack of visas" and because of ongoing investigations the 21 dudes that were on the ship haven't been allowed to leave. Just leaving them on a derelict ship in the middle of the river for weeks.
Yet 200k per month traipse through the southern border ...

re: Remember when they used to have those signs saying speed monitored by airplane?
Posted by Thundercles on 5/12/24 at 11:42 pm
They were real. Plane or chopper would be out there spotting speeders, do the math on line crossing, then call down to a cruiser for the ticket. I think with the slashing of police budgets over the years that was probably high on the chopping block. Seemed wildly expensive just to catch a few speede...

It’s just a photo.
The story behind it is that it's literally just a photo. They had a guy on set taking pictures and he took this shot of the actor putting on his costume, unaware that he was being photographed.
James Gunn must have thought it portrayed the idea of the film wel...

re: Harder professional sports job - MLB catcher or NHL goalie
Posted by Thundercles on 5/11/24 at 7:13 pm
I've been watching playoff hockey and was just thinking how insane being a goalie is. They're on constant edge for the entire game, the longest break between attacks is what, 30 seconds? Giant men are flying around and the puck is constantly vanishing and then it's rifled at them traveling 80-100 mp...

I didn't think I'd make it through my winter of severe illness and death so sold everything then racked up huge amounts of debt living out my final days assuming coronavirus would claim my life before Spring 2022 because I passed on the fake vaccine.

re: Microsoft Closing Multiple Studios
Posted by Thundercles on 5/10/24 at 9:50 pm
This doesn't bother me at all. The games industry, much like Hollywood, needs a serious reset on controlling costs and aligning with the consumer. When single devs or tiny studios can repeatedly push out beloved games while major studios take years to pump out pure trash, it's bound to contract.

Can cities ever actually fix their housing shortage?
Posted by Thundercles on 5/10/24 at 1:43 pm
Seems that loud activists always call for more population density and more housing options in cities. But none of the actual residents already there - especially the local politicians who control permits - have any interest in having more low income people in their neighborhoods.
Any area in whic...
