re: Is today the coldest southern June day that you have ever experienced in the southern US?
No, a few years ago we had a true freakish low temperature. Maybe 5-6 years ago?
Daughter’s friend had a ‘Frozen’ themed swim party that year  None of the adults were getting in that water. It was in the mid 60’s in July, if my memory is correct. It was crazy...

Think I’m going to pick up another bag of tortilla chips and heat up the taco meat and refried beans I made on Thursday. Might whip up a batch of guac...

I remember going to PaPaw’s house in Baton Rouge, and he and my Mom reading his column back in the 90’s. I didn’t appreciate it then, but I’m sure I would enjoy it now....
re: Best Apple TV shows

Loot has been pretty entertaining.
Palm Royale was good.
Shrink Next Door was outstanding.
The Servant was REAL WEIRD (M. Night Shyamalan series), but we liked it.
Another vote for Shrinking and Severance.
Morning Show was SO SLOW. I couldn’t stay with it.

Shrimp boil- corn, mushrooms, Brussels, okra, sausage and the perfect bite sized potatoes. Homemade tartar sauce with plenty of dill to dip in, too.

re: Watermelon Vs Cantaloupe...Who Wins?
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 5/31/24 at 11:36 am
A bad watermelon is still much better than a bad canteloupe. I enjoy both when they're ripe and fresh, but I've never eaten canteloupe until I was physically ill- I can't say that about watermelon. ...
re: Question for non rubber ducky Jeep Drivers

Bought a 2017 in 2021. Got a handful of ducks when it still had the temp tags on it. Young daughter thought it was fun, so we ducked a few Jeeps around the neighborhood.
It's not lifted, no huge tires, no major customizing. It probably won't go off road more than a handful of times. It's just a ...
re: Marco's pizza chain is opening its first Baton Rouge location.

To me, it's just Domino's Pizza in a different box. It's not bad, but I'm not going out of my way to order it.
Johnny's FTW :nana:...

They don't make any of my favorite flavors anymore :wah: :wah:
Used to be Delta Blues- damn those little bits of cobbler crust are MONEY!
Way way back in the day, it was fudge brownie nut- that was my grandmother's favorite. Haven't seen it in a very long time, though.
Creole Cream Cheese ...
re: Crawfish in Shreveport or Bossier?
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 5/27/24 at 12:19 am
Rubba Boot is great crawfish if there’s a short line, and the boxes offer easy clean up. But the line is crazy sometimes.
We got T-Johnny’s on E. 70th for Mother’s Day and they were really good- I could taste the lemon in their boil, so if you don’t want a strong citrus, it’s not for you. ...

One of the few good things to come out of Covid- DMV appointments. My last 3 trips for a new license and son’s permit have been almost enjoyable. In and out in 20-30 minutes. ...
re: Louisiana lawmakers vote to end lunch breaks for teen workers
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 5/22/24 at 7:21 pm
It’s not a ‘lunch break’, but a mandatory ‘break time’ off the clock. It used to suck when I worked at the ball field and the game went in to extra innings. I’d have to remember to go clock out for 15 minutes, then clock back in for another hour. It was a stupid arse law.
Side note- my 16 year ol...
re: Twister - time has abused it badly
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 5/21/24 at 5:24 pm
I still watch it all the time. It’s a running joke in our house, because it’s ALWAYS on some channel or another. It’s nostalgic to me, and the soundtrack was awesome- I still have it. ...

Kroger has briskets for $1.97 tomorrow. I assume they’re Choice- is it worth the extra cost for Prime or is that a dumb question?...

So she’s not a lesbian and that’s part of the problem? Or she is a lesbian, and because she’s that and white makes her ‘more popular’?...
Also, I’m trying to avoid the noodles. Would mushrooms be inauthentic to add?
The vegetable pho at Dahn’s Garden comes with bok Choi, carrot, baby corn, mushrooms and broccoli. It is OUTSTANDING! I usually get that and add beef on the side or meatballs. ...
