The wiring isn't the failure usually that causes fires associated with aluminum wiring. It's the connections.

If you change every connection in the house with Alumiconn or Copalum you should be OK and save a ton of money.

I bet he isn't cheap, or good.
and these aren't natural conductors

Seriously though, I didn't know there was a fix to aluminum wiring that didn't involve a total rewire. Good to know!

From everything I have read and talked with people, the aluminum wiring is not an issue until you mess with it. Changing the connections that are easily accessible but I would not rewire the house until you are opening up walls.

Thank you Stout and LSUDbrous90.. House has great bones. Just wanted to reach out to see how other people handle this kind of situation.

Correct connections and a good panel. Good to go.

definitely look at the panel, If it hasn't been replaced since the house was built in the 60s it might have a stablok panel which is a fire hazard.

We have it in most of our house and have been told by electricians it’s not worth rewiring the house which is a big undertaking and $. Good connections are safe.

I have heard different opinions on pigtailing vs. installing co/alr devices. Our’s is the former. You might have a master electrician inspect it.
