Yet another area where Russia is very behind technologically, they are a paper bear.

I just looked this up. By comparison, the US has 3,433 satellites.

This is one area where the Chinese may be able to covertly help, providing them satellite intel...so long as they think their data links to/from Russia aren't hacked by Western spy networks.

Some levity at a Russian's expense:

Video below of Ramzan Kadyrov with a REALLY impressive bench press set.

Holy shite 14 plates (675#) for reps, w/ no spotter, dude is a total unit despite not bottoming out!

Wait that bar ain't bending...

WHAAA... those are 5kg plates so even assuming the bar is 45# (which is very unlikely) it is 199#. Just another Potemkin village.

Video

I appreciate these updates, but this was a lie from ISW that might be their longest novel yet

With fog of war and assumptions of upcoming plans on both side, no source will be 100% accurate

I really don’t see where the authors overall conclusions are untrue.

1) he says that the battle field is still pretty muck a stalemate. Russian lines have advanced slightly in 2+ months of the Russian winter offensive. Even pro Russian bloggers maps show marginal gains.

2) he says Putin is currently not interested in a peace settlement, because he believes Russia can still gain its objectives on the battlefield. Action show the same. Russia, a thought taking heavy losses, is still moving forward. Russian generals are lily reporting back high Ukrainian kill levels which help encourage further advance

3) he states that if Ukraine can’t mount a set of successful advances the the west’s donation of equipment may dry up and that the current borders may become permanent.

I was only commenting on the length of their update after they stated it “will be an abbreviated update”, not the substance . It was clearly not an abbreviated update, in fact it was their longest one yet.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 27 March 2023
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

On 22 March 2023, at least three uncrewed surface vessels (USV) and one uncrewed aerial vehicle reportedly attempted to strike the Russian naval base of Sevastopol, in occupied Crimea. Open source reports suggest that one USV was stopped by defensive booms, while two were destroyed in the harbour. Russian officials said that no Russian vessels had been damaged.

A previous USV attack on Sevastopol on 29 October 2022 reportedly damaged the minesweeper Ivan Golubets and the frigate Admiral Makarov.

Even though the new attacks likely failed to damage any military assets, the USV threat likely continues to constrain operations of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.

Given time, these will eventually be successful. Pushing these surface ships further afield or stuck in harbor will only decrease the RU ability to engage in sea based missile attacks, so there is a good case for continuing the efforts.

Ukraine needs to try to catch a vessel entering or leaving the harbor.

Here's a video of a UA T-80 tank operating in Bakhmut. This is the first video or pic I have seen in months of any heavy armor in the city. UA must finally be very confident of keeping the roads in and out of the city free from enemy fire.

It's presence in the city might also lend some weight to the rumors that RU is starting to run low on ATGMs.

The next article is in Forbes, and it references a viral Russian post from a few days ago?

Those race drones can’t carry that weight more than a few hundred feet max. More likely they don’t get off the ground.

Leopard 2 tanks from Germany arrive in Ukraine.

Ukraine has received the 18 Leopard 2 tanks pledged by Germany, der Spiegel reported on March 27. 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles also arrived in what der Spiegel’s sources said was a “large package” of weapons.

Ukrainian troops finished training on Challengers in the UK yesterday, Spain said three days ago that its Leopards would be in Ukraine within a week, etc.

Everything still points towards, in the next week or so, Ukraine getting all the equipment promised at the last three Ramstein group meetings. Ukraine will need a couple weeks to get that equipment staged and crewed, and by mid-April, they should be ready to begin the offensive.

I'm not saying that Ukraine will actually begin it then; I'm saying that's when the window opens.

Besides the battalion of Abrams tanks which won’t come until late summer at the earliest it seems. At least they will have the Bradleys for the spring.
