Yes. The terms are synonymous.

The hotel is supposed to replicate a galactic cruise liner called the Halcyon, and lodgings are small and only have windows looking out onto a screen replicating outer space. Reviewers likened them to a “windowless bunker” and a “suburban junior high school built in the mid-1970s.”

Don't get me wrong the hotel looks cool and something enjoyable if you are a Star Wars fan, but the prices are insane. Good luck getting people to fork over that kind of money

It's 2,500/night. Not 5k.

You obviously haven't been following this situation. The more information Disney has released about the hotel, the more openings come up because people who have already booked are cancelling. One of their teaser trailers was slammed so hard they deleted it due to the backlash. It's been a complete PR disaster.

After seeing the pictures, here's the problem:

To the average person, that doesn't have the luxury to justify the expense. To justify the expense sans luxury, you would have to be a superfan.

To the superfan, this doesn't have the realism/immersion/experience to interest them. In fact, they would likely bitch and nitpick the whole time because it looks pretty lame.

So you're kind of in a no man's land with this.

I disagree with immersion, it's a full on 48 hour immersive interactive experience. You have missions and the rooms look cheap but the rest of the ship looks very nice.

It's just too expensive.

I had not heard that.

From the start they have said it was going to be a very immersive experience.

At that price point, they have to get it perfect.

I have no idea if it's perfect because I don't follow Star Wars.

Maybe if Disney just pushed more LGBTQ legislation they might fill it up. Yeah, that'll do it.

on it! Disney getting a focus group together as we speak

The rooms like a sci-fi version of an interior cabin on a cruise ship.

If you book an interior cabin on a cruise ship, it's because you don't care because you are only in your room to dress and sleep. You are too busy being out and about doing things.

I thought it was the same thing here. The rooms are spartan because you are not going to be in them that often, and if you were on a spaceship, the rooms would be small, so it fits in with the theme.

Disney Cruise Line charges at an extreme premium price for a cruise that's not much more "luxury" than a Royal Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise. But between the theming and the easy of access to characters, they have people lining up to throw money at them.

This Star Wars thing is closer to a cruise experience than a typical Disney Parks experience, with an immersive experience added on. But Disney was absolutely betting on theme and character to command that price.

Bet you think that people who play video games are virgins too.

No. I just think adults playing Star Wars or anime dress up are losers.

Adults that play dress up can’t afford that on their Geek squad salaries.

And those who can afford it have better sense than to pay $5,000 for a hotel with no amenities, tiny room, and your view is a screensaver.

Once people saw what it was and what they were paying for with the early previews, they bailed. The die hards wanted legit cool shite so they booked it up as quick as they could. But what they saw was cringy acting, bad food, and nothing that feels like actual Star Wars. So they all canceled.

I just spent most of the day yesterday in the star wars area of MGM. shite ton of people going hard on the dress up and taking it too serious. I honestly don't care either way. The new rides were next level and almost nobody was wearing a mask. It was nice seeing the curve was finally flattened.

Are you getting 6 months stay for the $5000?

I’ve been a rabid Star Wars fan since ‘77; thus my username. But I wouldn’t give you more than $100 a night for that room.

Hot take. It was no secret that Disney was and "outsider." They fought him and rejected his idea, so he doubled down and produced them himself. The Jewish community has the entertainment business locked down prior to that.

You can book the Marqueterie Suite (their third best suite) in the La Mamounia hotel/spa in Marrakech often considered the best hotel in the world for $5K a night and the best suite (at least the best offered to the general public) at the Four Seasons Resort in Dubai for almost $2K less per night, this is perenially a top 5 hotel.

Those are hotels where the concierge can get you a real-life alien if that is what you require to enjoy your stay. Seriously it is the type of place that can satisfy the every whim of the most well-healed guest, want a Ferrari F8 to drive to dinner, with an hour notice the keys will be waiting for you down stairs.

$5k is just a ton of money to stay in a themed room outside Orfrickinglando. For that money they better have Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and the resurrected Carrie Fisher in costume and on property 24 hours a day considering they have $5 million dollars a day in revenue at full occupancy. They also better serve authentic blue milk delivered daily from an outer rim planet.
