This is a very valid point.

Lots of the doodles come from questionable breeders

This is a somewhat valid point:

Much better health guarantees and records on the breeding than the crosses.

But, they were completely ruined by all of this:
quote:

Congrats on over paying for a mutt ... get a golden or a poodle from a reputable breeder.

Have 2, a male and female. Both are very smart and easy to train. No shedding. I keep mine pretty much shaved to minimize the grooming trips. Have had no medical issues. Female is a bit hyper and ~60#. The male is super chilled and about 70#. Both are playful and no issues with other dogs.

Not sure about guarantees, but crosses are often healthier, and I know you know why.

I have a bitch and she’s a great dog. Fine with our other dogs but acts like she’s actually going to eat strange other dogs when she meets them. Never actually ate a dog tho. All posturing

my sister is a vet and says the "doodles" have all the health issues of a poodle and a lab combined. We have several friends who have them and they all seem to be really good dogs but I've stayed away from owning one based on what my sister says.
I think you'll be fine as far as the dog goes but don't be surprised to deal with stomach issues, hips, all that good stuff.
That said, no dog breed is perfect so do you man!

Not one pic of a good boy in this thread. Disappointing.

The fiance keeps begging for one, but I can't pull the trigger on it yet. They're expensive to obtain and high maintenance (from what I hear). I've been around a few of them and they're really sweet playful dogs though. Do the smaller ones have more health issues? I'd like to stay below 40+ pounds.

We looked at golden and Aussie doodles. Ended up with the Aussie. About the same temperament as the goldens I’ve seen, but she sheds like mad. She is also hard to catch with those giant long poodle legs.

We have one and like others have said, the smartest, most affectionate dog we've ever owned. Almost humanlike eyes and personality. Ours LOVES babies and is incredibly gentle with them even though she's so excited that she's wiggling when she sees one. Loves attention and to get scratched. If you stop scratching her she'll paw at your hand and duck her head under it to make you keep going. Very trainable and understands tons of words. We have to be careful what we say around ours because she picks up on it.

No shedding, but the downsides are the grooming costs and she's an absolute debris magnet when she plays in the dirt. We bathe her weekly and brush her out. If you can handle that, they'll be the best dog you've ever owned.

we have a 6 year old female. She is the best dog i have ever owned. She weighs about 45 pounds but will take up the entire sofa when stretched out. She loves to steal random stuff around the house, especially from my son for some reason. Loves people but hates other dogs because she was attached two times. We can leave her at the house and she is fine all day. She loves walks and car rides. She is like a 3rd child to us.

I had 2, still have 1. I've posted about having to get rid of one.

F2b was a complete freaking tard. I couldn't get him to stay in the yard if I tried. Electric fence, shock collar, nothing. Would dig through the fence while getting shocked, yelping, whole 9. Was good with our kids but never interacted with them, wouldn't fetch, wouldn't go on walks, didn't care for human attention. Just dumb and wanted to go fight the neighbors dogs. Loved him but he became a liability after escaping and attacking a neighbor's dog.

F2b is the smartest dog I've ever owned. 65 lbs of fluffy loyalty. Loves the kids, other dogs, fetching, he loves kids so much if we bring him to the park it's an issue. He's gone and running around with every kid in the park. Runs on the baseball field to kiss the kids. He's awesome.

A golden doodle, pit bull and beagles is quite the wide range of dog personalities

ill never own another breed. yeah they look a little goofy, but they're geniuses, amazing with kids, excellent athletes and retrievers, and they don't shed. no complaints at all
